Just some thoughts about the difficulty level.... I think it's too soon to tell whether the game is "too hard," because no one has gotten to the end yet. Some of us on here are getting close to the end, but it's still too soon to tell. If people are able to complete a game but you aren't, does that mean the game is too difficult, or just that it's too difficult for *you* (or that you're not persistent enough)? In games where there are easy, normal, and difficult modes, there should be a big enough difference between the three to appease *most* players. If the easy mode were still too difficult for a lot of players, something's wrong. I do think having different difficulty modes is a better route to take than changing things in the entire game to appease certain people. There have been plenty of games in my life that I couldn't complete. That doesn't mean they were too difficult in general. But maybe it would have been nice to have a difficulty setting so I would have been able to still enjoy them. So... Back to my main point: we still don't know if this game is too difficult to be beaten by *anyone*. If it turns out it is, then I do think the developer should tweak something.
I've seen this question posed a couple times, but it doesn't look like anyone has an answer. I'm at The Ruins quest, and have been going around in circles now for nearly an hour. It gives me the A or B path choices. A takes me to either The Ruins or The Riverside, and B takes me to The Fog. I've tried nearly every combination of paths, and it just keeps taking me to these same three levels over and over again. Is this a bug, or is there something I'm missing here? EDIT: After 50 minutes, choosing path B finally led me to "Deeper in the Ruins" instead of "The Fog". No idea what triggered the change, seemed entirely random. Would have been nice to have at least some indication of what was going on instead of thinking it was simply a bug.
Thanks! I decided to go back to the Ancient Labyrinth to grind me some coins and stuff i might have missed. I had an incredible long path branching battle which gave me over 3500 EXP each and a very appreciated big bonus - Elsa's Emblem of Flame (8k).
This is a Dark Souls Match-3. edit: oh, btw: I grinded a lot, got all 8000 G Emblems and landed on the third island. Already cleard the Pirate' Nest. But any advice how to beat that sea monster (Kraken)? It's the first boss I am stuck at.
If I remember correctly, he's immune to fire and ice, but weak to lightning. Not 100% sure. But he was a toughie.
I think a couple of people might be around the same point as me. Has anyone managed to find the 8th emblem for Alston or Trista?
Yup, you need to bring a lot of lightning damage into that boss battle. I really hope they add a bestiary into the game at some point. I would love to see all the mobs and bosses with flavor text.
When you talk "Kraken", you mean that quest that was available at the same time with the Pirate Nest quest (not beaten yet) ? If so, i was damn lucky to beat it in my first attempt. I didn't spend any coins on skills so far, only what i found... Elsa with Thunder Gate + Minimize Trista with Superior Heal (my only s.skill)+ Purify Alston with Angelic Guardiance + Pulverize Howard with Inferno (my only s.skill) + Vampiric Sword
That would be amazing!! I always like looking through them in games that have them, because the devs usually add humor in the descriptions or flavor text. I am in love with this game. Yeah, sometimes the battles are frustrating and you die a lot, but the feeling when you finally beat them and move on is awesome. I hope that the difficulty isn't tuned down, because it's nice to have a game that challenges you to make good decisions in a match-3 rather than the usual mindlessness. I'm easily bored if things are too easy or the goals are loosely defined; I am definitely *not* bored with this game. I'm very happy with my purchase and although I haven't gotten anywhere near the middle of the story (much less the end), I'd definitely pay again for a 'new' adventure in the future.
i just lost to the minotaur boss of the 2nd continent, in the labyrinth. I spent around 20 minutes in that dungeon, managed to open 3 blue chests with 2 skills and one emblem, and brought him down to one hit. And i lost, and with that the desire to play again for today. Bleh..
Hit a pretty huge bug. Even though Elsa was equipped with a lightning spell, she was doing fire spells. And I had purposely switched her spell before entering the dungeon because the boss is immune to fire. Suffice it to say, I got crushed. Edit: My mistake! Elsa's lightning looks a lot like her fireball. And it turns out that boss was immune to both! I don't know how I managed to defeat that boss, but I did!
I was pretty close to finishing but decided to restart and delay the ending and redo a lot of the stuff I might have missed the first time around and I'm up to the 3rd island again. With no grinding at all. Just smart plays and purchases because I know where and when I can get freebies. I hope they DONT ever change the difficulty of this game. It's hard and sometimes infuriating however when you do win, it feels so awesome. Luck and Skill. Making this easier would just make it a monotonous grind from start to finish. The challenge is what makes it so fun, knowing that at any moment my luck can change so it actually feels like a battle to survive at times! Maybe I'm just a sucker for punishment :/
Yeah, need to adjust the debuffs, hard to get rid of poison when there are at least 15 to clear, pretty impossible
Apologies if this has been answered earlier but is it a bug or intentional that you get your items back that you've used when you lose a level? Quite like that you do I must admit
Adding a new tip to my guide for late game. The only items I take into battle now are four of the most expensive crosses (remove up to 8 advanced Debuffs). I used three against a boss and wouldn't have survived without them. A million times more useful than a potion.
I don't think it's a bug. Basically when you die it's "gameover" so essentially are restarting. That explains why you never get exp for failing (as if they took away your items for that it would make sense).
Being difficult i think is something they should never change in this game. BUT. Playing 30-40 minutes in a dungeon and losing to a boss just for 1 hit is just ridiculous. You lose EVERYTHING!!!!!!! and start over. I believe a save at least in the middle of the dungeon is something they sould add. Being difficult is ok but being frustrating is totally different.
Yeah, a skill/emblem location guide would be really nice. For instance, I just got the Emblem of Judgment for Elsa on the second continent from the Witch's residence outside Clyde. If I had just bought the same one in town, I'd be rather annoyed.
