#1. Make sure your force field spell repells defuffs. Then equip one before he hits you with the stone eyes. That'll buy you some time. #2. Once the eyeballs are on the board, you need to drop them to the bottom like keys to get rid of them. Since your hearts are stone, that's the only way you can do it, since you can't use the heart special I'm not sure if one of the stronger purify crosses would get rid of the eyes -- haven't tried it yet.
I have a question for those who find the game too difficult. On average, can you make at least 2 5-in-a-line (5i) matches in 5 segment boss fights? Coz if not, you're probably just matching the obvious, and not looking at the possible combos that will happen when you trigger a match. Always try to create 5i matches. Matching 2 of these will trigger each character's S-Skill in one turn which is huge. Force fields, AOE spell damage, max heal, max shield, regen... all in one turn. If you see an opportunity to match 4, STOP. Look if you can change that 4-of into a 5i. Same thing when you see a possible 5-match in L or T shapes... STOP. Is it possible to use this turn to setup a 5i next turn? Also, make it a habit to bring Cross items into boss fights. Setting up a 5i match only to be interrupted by a chain is a huge loss in tempo, and can cost you to restart. Losing a boss fight you should learn something. Is he immune to certain elements? Is he casting too much locking debuff? Is he vulnerable to specific element or just non-skill attacks? Using this knowledge should improve your chances of winning a boss fight. This mindset is what is needed to succeed in this game. Whining about the difficulty and blaming the devs for it isnt how you play the game. If you just keep matching obvious matches and dont want to think ahead for the next turn or 2, then sorry to say the game just isnt for you. I hope you didnt ask to lower the difficulty for Boson X just to get 100% or to get high scores, and not give VVVVVV 1-star just coz you cant Veni Vidi Vici.
Anyone else make it to the Palace of Darkness yet? Trying to figure out if I missed any upgrades, because this place is insane!!
Not I, just finished the three fairies quest. I'm really trying to pace myself and not burn through the content. This is a game that deserves to be savored.
Im at the 3rd fairy myself. Hopefully i can find more time to play this weekend. I always juggle a few games, and most of my time goes to Chrono Trigger unsurprisingly (being one of my most favorite games in my entire life). Even if i've already finished that game over 30 times literally (maybe even reaching 50 times ) over every console and computer i have had since i was in elementary.
One of the benefits of recording some of my battles is that I can watch them and yell at myself for not seeing glaringly obvious 5-emblem moves.
Are you guys talking about those 3 fairy sisters on the 3rd island (each one held by different boss) or are you somewhere further in the game already?
Yup, talking about that one, and I just beat the next boss. AppUnwrapper, do you have the Superior Purification super skill? Can be a lifesaver.
I have to ask again: is it adviced to trade the "Book of God" from the Cabin at Sea with the "Obligatory Donation" skill or shall I hold onto the book? Is there any other use for the Book of God?
I do indeed. Have had it for a while now. I'll admit that it's a hard choice to make, though, to use that skill instead of a force field. Still wondering where I can get a better purify skill -- the one from the beginning feels so underpowered at this point, but still so necessary.
Need advice. I just got to the village that sells 4k emblems. I have 3 of the 2k emblems and about 1700 gold. Should I buy the last 2k emblem once I can or save and jump the last char (Elsa) straight to a 4k emblem? Thanks!
yeah, so why am I complaining about the game's difficulty when I'm already further, can you tell me? I guess I'm not as lame as I thought :-D but I still think it'd be much more relaxing experience if the game was a little bit easier...
I don't recommend it. Useless skill. There's a guy on the last continent who also asks for a book. I think that's what he's asking for, but I made the mistake of trading it at the cabin, so can't check. Gonna be crushed if I find out it's some crazy powerful spell. As much as I love the game, I can't see investing another 25+ hrs into it to start over.
I'd say save up for the 4K -- grind it out.. I skipped an emblem once -- you can always go back for it when you have extra cash lying around.
 I'm used to playing ridiculously tough games, Nuclear Throne, SotS The Pit, FTL. It's more fun when the game makes you work for it.
Oh yes please! I would be interested in which monster/pirate etc. is immune against what...these sort of things could help immense the none experienced rpg gamers (me). Maybe in a special thread ? Whatever you put together, thanks a lot. I was short before leaving this game (18 hours in!) because i couldn't beat the final boss in the Ancient Labyrynth (2nd continent) after xxx attempts. Those debuffs were killing my setups regularly, but with two big potions each and three s-skills i made, i finally blew that fothermucker into pieces. How satisfying that was !!! Proudly i sailed over to Sanctus Port (3rd continent) to buy Howard's emblem instead of Alston's...stupid me. Well than, let's try it out. I went to the Pirate Nest only to get my ass beaten pretty fast by the pirates boss. (Those two red slimes in the beginning were immune against everything for countless rounds before i beat them) Now i grind for more coins first then go back to sell the emblem for half the price (ouch only 4k) to buy Alston's. Definitely the highest priority.
If you're talking about the little red slimes that are really common in one of the dungeons... They're only immune to regular attacks. Any skill will wipe them out. I did take video of the pirate nest -- probably the next best thing to listing the weaknesses?
THIS! Please give us some sort of consolation prize if we fail - it's so frustrating being killed by the boss after a 10 minute dungeon and having gained absolutely nothing - wasted 10 minutes again
Here's a thought about difficulty. What if you had the option to undo your last move? Just one move. It would let you go back if you realize you missed a great combo or if you died because you didn't notice you had 11 hp and needed to heal (which just happened to me, I'm an idiot).
I can't put it down. I CAN'T PUT IT DOWN!!! I've waited so long for an IAP free, timer free, energy free, Match 3 RPG and this one has not failed to deliver on any front. Good music, decent graphics (I'm not a fan of the cartoony graphics in general, but they work for this game and are very well done), challenging but not overly difficult. Dev, when the time comes this deserves to be considered game of the month and possibly year if you can expand on it a bit more. Keeping rewards after losing a boss fight would be a start. Some form of arena with rewards (think of the Arena in Battleheart Legacy). This is a diamond in the ruff. Amazing job Dev, amazing!
