iPhone 6 and no issues... Well except that I started the game and it worked fine and the second time I played it switched to Chinese but I was able to change the settings to English and I didn't lose my save position or anything!
So I think I'm about 2 hours in and I'm really liking it and definitely want to spend more time with it, early on I made the mistake of heading back to the starting island and exploring the south graveyard and quickly discovered that it's a bad idea to go to places I wasn't told to yet! Just beat the red demon first try with only my paladin emblem as I knew she was the best to first upgrade, I just did as I have from the start and save my 5 matches until the end of a dungeon and used the Paladins shield. I've now got two emblems and two skills I think from chests, what exactly does purify remove? Didn't remove poison tiles? Only just equipped it for 1 battle to see. Also how do you decide where is best to grind at each point? And how do I know where has a chest? Will a place always have one or will it appear in that place each time until I collect it? It's pretty hard to get them to the bottom. Anyway all in all I really like it, it is pretty tough as you've all said but not too harsh. English translation is probably good for most of you but for me it does irritate me a little as I've always played MUDs and dislike proper usage of words....grammar I can live with as I'm terrible with that.
I'm still really enjoying this game. In fact, it's been awhile since any iOS game has really hooked me like this has in AWHILE! I'd like to suggest something. I think it'd be cool if your party continued to travel to the spot you selected after you leave battle. Maybe I'm just lazy, but I hate reselecting my destination after every battle. Vereery minor thing but just figured I'd point it out and see what happens. Hope to see more content down the line for this fantastic game!
There's no passive equips in the game to my knowledge. Purify removes the status effects only if you have a charged tile from the healers set. That's a bad idea and most games don't do that because simply it could create multiple battles in a row. If you mark a place on the opposite side of the map you could get potentially 9 battles or so in a row non stop if you're unlucky since the game incorporates random battles.
It's all about the emblems. Get everyone's emblem ASAP. I foolishly got skills first and wondered why I wasn't doing any Dmg. Another tip is to think about defense first and let offense fall into place. By that I mean always look to heal or build shield and let offense happen after the tiles clear on their own. Also, it may bea general match 3 tip, but try to clear as low on the board as possible to allow more new tiles to come into play. This will lead to more chain reactions.
Loving it, Almost eight hours in and I sailed to the other continent, ugh here we go again with emblem gathering, but what fun. I'm gonna venture a guess that Lord Sage is the evil creep. Kinda tired of the story and much rather have an open world but so far the grind is not to bad and it satisfies those candy crush urges. This game already paid for itself. I think they have a winner and can extend as a series a la Kingdom Rush franchise or just do dlc like Monument Valley
I've got mixed feelings about this game. I mean, I spent 11 hours in game, all of my heroes are level 20+ and I had quite fun, but I consider myself casual player and I don't appreciate the chosen difficulty. If there's an option to choose the difficulty, it's a no brainer, but I'm not having fun anymore. It's frustrating to fight for 10-15 minutes and loose in last seconds and not to be rewarded with XP or coins whatsoever. It'd frustrating to repeat specific boss fights over and over again, but you need to repeat a lot before that even to get to the boss. In any other case this would be called "badly placed checkpoints", it's not even old school (and I grew up with ZX Spectrum games like R-Type) I mean, don't get me wrong, for 11 hours I spent in game it's well worth its asking price, I just don't see myself to try again and again to get further because it's not fun anymore. I'd rather stick with Adventure Xpress from Adult Swim, it feels more rewarding to level up and progress even though it's freemium and some game mechanics are build to take advantage of it. Anyway, I'd appreciate the difficulty settings or at least better placed checkpoints (if not being rewarded at least for trying too). I'd say 3,5/5.
It's sad that gamers and mobile gamers in specific these days demand games that fall over at the slightest push. I'm just glad stuff like this that demands more from the player still exists, games like FTL that are not out to give you a friendly hug but to beat you up and take your lunch money. They expect you to earn a victory rather than just to serve it to you on a platter.
It's more than a black and white. It's not just "slightest push" vs "incredibly difficult". That's why there's usually option to choose the difficulty that fits you the best. It's pretty much impossible to balance one difficulty to every possible player out there. That's why I'd appreciate the choice. I don't understand what's sad about that. As I wrote, I consider myself a casual player, I like to relax and have fun with the games on my devices. I welcome reasonable challenges but I'm not willing to spend hours of my time to repeat the same stage over and over again, it's not fun for me. Match-3 is my favorite genre, but I'd rather stick with Playrix games instead of frustrate myself on games with unbalanced difficulty.
It's sad for me because that drives how the industry develops games, games have become easier and easier over the years. I don't think this game has unbalanced difficulty but I do agree that more difficulty options would serve the game well as it would open the game up to a wider audience that is used to casual match-3 games that are played more or less on autopilot.
Good point, but how about you can still press on another location to stop if you need to stop? It could be done as simple as that. Edit: Actually you can already select on a spot and stop your party from traveling as it is.
Clearly the issue isnt about how the devs balanced the game but more about how you find the balance to be. I think it's a simple question of "is it for you?" And i think we know the answer to that.
I agree. That's exactly what I said. I find this game to be too difficult (for me) and I'd appreciate to have an option to choose the difficulty, that's all. There's no reason to state the obvious.
I bought game last night after all the glowing reviews. I am having an issue that I haven't seen mentioned here. I have started the game a few times and each time I start it I am back to the beginning. The game is not saving my progress at all. When I hit 'Tap To Start' the 3 save slots are all new game slots. In one session last night I played for about half an hour and this morning When I opened the game I was back at the beginning. Any one else experience this issue. Thanks
Anyone know what Garoud is looking for (on the last island)? I hope it's not the book I traded for a crappy spell at the cabin.
I thought i had this issue, found out the first time the games saves is after the tutorial and the first battle that follows it; the first time i played i closed it after the tutorial thinking the game would restart from there but that wasn't the case. Next time try to do a couple of battles more, the game should autosave.
Yeah I got the exact same issue, it's so annoying! I lost all my progress twice already, I'll wait for the dev to fix the problem before playing it again, it's meaningless to restart over and over again
Whoa, you can steal some wild loot from bosses! I just looted an emblem that I don't think I can purchase from this continent
Thanks for that. I will try to play for longer later on this evening and see if that works. bit of a pain having to play through the tutorial so often when I can;t skip the dialogue.
sapphire_neo: yes, you can. I was using Heist spell to do that, but considering you've got just one chance to do so since you can't fight the bosses more than once, it's kinda tricky. But yeah, I got lucky once and stole the emblem I can't purchase yet. It didn't make the game easier for me anyway
