By the way, on Relic Island when you get the flower, I can't seem to find a blue chest there. Is there one?
Just purchased and heading out soon so I'll wait until I'm back later and have a few hours with how good you all say it is.
it's amazing.. but be warned it's also hard which is a good thing, makes progressing in the game feel even better
And this is why I can't stop playing. I was really annoyed in the beginning with having to replay entire dungeons after failing. But it makes battles like this all more nail-biting. Every single move matters. This is my win in the Cave of the Devil (spoilers!), which I could have so easily lost at the last second:
This tip helped me a lot (i'm not j/k-rpg experienced at all!): get the defend and heal emblem first. So it's Alston and the cute "money horny party slut" Trista, then the other two. Watch out to buy them just once each. Each town has four emblems to sell, which get very pricy in the second town by the port. Since grinding is needed (in a great fun way with this game), make sure to replay the !Quests for the blue chests until you get them. I realized it too late, but playing AND catching up in this thread isn't that easy, for me. No developer here, right? It would be nice to see where i'm missing the blue chests or i own them already, whatever. Marked with a star as somebody mentioned. Good idea. PS: read post #300
Is it normal that when i match 5 swords or the other weapon of the whitch ... Not always a special "cross" tile appears?
You want to make those. Then you can swap it with any symbol to activate a character's special. They explain this at the very beginning, but it didn't register for me either until I had played a little.
Yes but what i mean is ... Why do i suddenly not always get a cross emblem. (Which causes a great fire effect or something else) after maling a 5 sword match or something else?
Just picked this up after the glowing praise from everywhere at TA, and I am not disappointed. This game is fantastic! Loving every second of playing it so far. Does anyone else have problems with the game respecting your mute switch? I can turn sound off once I'm in my save game, but when I boot up the app fresh, it seems to always have music and sound on.
I know what you mean. I'm much earlier in the game (just returned to the castle) and had a very tense battle. In fact, I was sure I was hosed, but I decided to try using items to see if you lost them if you failed. I ended up winning the fight by the skin of my teeth.
Are any of the emblems debuffed (frozen, chained, etc)? If they are, then using them in a chain would just remove the Debuff, but not create a skill emblem. I'm not sure if that's what's happening with you or a glitch.
Loving the game so far; on the second island and grinding a bit to get the last emblem. One mechanic suggestion: On enemies (mini and regular bosses) where the debuffs are pretty frequent, the fact that "dispelling" the debuff by matching (*not* by an item) takes a turn and doesn't activate the emblem for that character is pretty damning. For example, when you get a 2x chain lock debuff, the earliest you can attack with that emblem is turn 3 (by which time the miniboss/boss has almost certainly attacked you). Moreover, if you match the 2x chain lock with a skill or S.skill emblem, you lose that emblem entirely with no benefit to you except removing one level of the debuff. I think that changing gameplay so that removing a debuff also activates that emblem wouldn't perturb the balance so drastically, but would alleviate the drastic difficulty increase when you reach a boss with 1) frequent attacks and 2) wide-ranging debuffs. Hope that made sense!
i agree.. the level of difficulty in the game, imnho, is JUST RIGHT it's tough enough where you HAVE to farm/grind out to get better, but that 1 single step makes such a huge difference and you really feel like you're progressing i love this game i love this game and will support this developer! ..yes, makes me wish there was IAP LOL!
So what happens is if i match 5 of the swords or something ... It just gets a other background like if i would match 4 of any emblems but with 5 matchhes it gets a darker background and in rare cases it turns into a cross which i think is very powerful when matching it with a sword... I use 2 get them all the time when matching them but now this what i described happens
Fantastic game so far. This could easily have been ruined by IAP, but I'm happy the developer took this route. Most impressive to me so far is of any Match-3 I've played, the tiles that you match actually matter. Between debuffs are certain tiles to saving powered-up tiles for critical moments, the "way" you match tiles is much more strategic, and less "match whatever I see first". And yeah, it's brutally hard, but I like it.
No no no no no! I wouldn't have even bothered playing. Especially if an endless mode and GameCenter is added (I'm going to keep mentioning this lol). IAP removes all sense of competition and satisfaction of defeating a tough boss. Sure, it would be super easy to implement IAP, as so many similar games do. There are quite enough IAP match-threes out there. Please let us have this one without it. I'm all for paying for an expansion if the developer decides to add content.
I'm definitely getting any additional content the developer adds btw.. the best part I found out imnho about this game? ....IT DOES NOT NEED AN INTERNET CONNECTION!!! I can play it on the subways!
