Almost everyone is 4-0 or 3-1 . . . seeding seemed a bit silly to me as none of us have proven anything, vis-a-vis each other, yet. I stuck the 4-0s in slot 1 of each group just because it was easy, not because I thought it was any kind of necessary for balanced groups.

You're omitting the "for a not-so-formal tournament" part of my comment. With no way to really measure the strength of the initial groups and such a small sample of games, it'd be impossible to do a "skill-based" seeding (ie: a player who went 4-0 in group Z may only have won 2 games if they were playing in group X due to better competition). That's why I have no issues whatsoever with semi-random seeding for round 2.

But it's not impossible to reward people in the second round for playing better in the first round. Art already did a little of that by splitting up the players with the best records, but more is possible. Bridge tournaments do this kind of thing well. Anyway, just my preference. I am not intending a lack of appreciation.

I'll be sure to post the details of Round 3 at least 24 hours in advance to allow for comments. My thought is a 4 man round robin exactly like we are doing this round, followed by a 2 person head to head, unless 1 player wins the round robin by at least 2 points.

Before we get there, however, we'll potentially need to break 3 way ties. In the event of a 3 way tie, a 1 round 3 person round robin, with who goes first decided by guessing a random number is my thought. If that ends 1-1, we'll move to single elimination matches with the fastest finisher sitting out/playing the winner of, the first elimination match.

    Comments welcome.

I see where nonexist is coming from. It is not that we don't have enough time to play, but that between each move you sit around thinking and stressing all day about the best play, and you even spend some restless nights, waking up at 4am with a realization of what should be your next move. What can I say, my game against nonexist was exhausting and an extremely close match (which lasted about a week). I feel him, but there really is nothing that the tournament organizer could do about this, unless we were just playing one opponent in two games at a time. Alas, that would take too long, and this is the way it is.

    Good luck to everyone participating.

ArtNJ (Council) v. Raptor (Council): I win
Raptor (Council) v. ArtNJ (Council): Holy sh*t, I thought I pulled off a miracle! Ninja with sword on a boost tile with scroll inflicted 3000 damage on his crystal...but it wasnt enough! I lost the next turn, with 250 health on his crystal.

Other games are in earlier stages. Stinks to start 1-1 but better than 0-2! Great games Raptor!

ArtNJ VS Me - Lost Council vs Council
Me VS ArtNJ - Won Council vs Council
Macish VS Me - Lost DE vs Council
Me VS Macish - Lost Council vs DE
lEiss VS Me - Has not sent the challenge yet.
Me VS lEiss - Has not moved in 18 hours. Council vs Council

I'm fairly sure I'm going to win at least one against lEiss. Doesnt look like I'll be moving on, but I can hope :p

ArtNJ: If you plan to do more tournaments after this one, how about a Council vs Dark Elves one?
    16 Council vs 16 DE
    C1vDE1
    ...
    C16vDE16
Take the remaining 8 and do it again. All with random seeding, then repeat til we get 1v1, and do a best of 3.

    Just a thought.

Dont worry about LEiss, he has been swamped and is going to engage hard thsi weekend. No more tourneys, I'm probably going to organize a league next. Recruiting co-admins now :) Anyone with experience setting up free forums is welcome to join the team, I've never done it. (We cant run it here because all co-admins need edit access, its way too much work for one person.) Although, come to think of it, I suppose we could use a google doc coupled with a thread here at TA or the RE forums.

lol i would say it doesnt look good for me either .. and you have way more units on the board..

the other game was hunted only healers and potions in the cylcle.. not a single offensive unit or item in ages.. :( maybe i should have exchanges a few more tiles, but somehow i always have the feel that loosing moves that way are hard to make up for in the long run

Can you edit those on an iPad, or do you need a computer?

I shouldn't have joined this Tournament, before I did I hadn't lost a game... but it's not looking good in some (all...) of my games now!
