Use two hands. One thumb, keep moving nonstop with the torch, making sure to avoid the ninja stars. Other hand, keep on the potions, so the second he turns a color and enters the area that you can hit him in, you can nail him.

    Highlight to see.

Great game overall, one of the best logic games I have played so far on iPhone...

... but last levels are a bit easy, like there is no kind of mechanics when you must use other color tonic on one monster (to add a shield) and then destroy it as usual

also - due to all those effects - it works really bad on my iPhone 2G :(

You should download the cool and free Sim Daltonism colorblindness simulator. It opens a window that follows your cursor in realtime and shows you what the surrounding area looks like to people with eight different kinds of colorblindness. It makes developing colorblind-friendly apps and palettes as easy as such a thing can be.

I'd get it if Crystal didn't suck. I hope they switch to something like GC.

Or, just get it and don't enable Crystal. In a puzzle solving game, it is really that critical to see how well you are doing against the rest of the world?

    This is a fantastic game.

need help on hard mode - lvl 2 just before boss

I'm on this stage where i'm given 2 red 2 blue and 1 green potions. One of the bats is red in color, and has alternating forcefields from in to out comprising of a blue ring, red ring and another blue ring. Because of this, naturally, i would focus on taking the blue ring first (since both red potions have to be used later).

I take out the 3 monsters with blue rings, and thereafter, 1 red potion annihilates most of the red monsters who are 'naked', i.e. no ring.

I am left with 1 blue, 1 red and 1 green potion in this configuration. Because there are 3 red monsters, i have to save the red potion last. Now i have a choice to either take out the blue or the green.

Now the problem is, i cant either way BECAUSE of the obstacles and the fact that there is 1 blue and 1 green monster in the open spaces which prevents me from attacking either color without reinforcing the other
For example, the green ghost at the top right corner is shielded by the blue werewolf in front of it. The blue bat at the middle right of the screen is in open space with the green archer at the bottom left of the screen.

I am been retrying this level about 5 times with the same result, and each time while trying to trial-and-error to place the torch optimally i end up getting swiped by the bat and the werewolf.

Appreciate any help please. Driven nuts here.

Cool and original game :) -- even though imo it starts becoming "more of the same" after the 1st 2 full maps. How many levels are there in total?

Also is survival mode overly difficult or do I just suck that bad haha? I had difficulty just beating the 2nd wave, even after beating the 1st 2 maps in single player relatively easily...

Can you post a picture of the original puzzle without using any potions? I think it's possible you're hitting an enemy you shouldn't be with the first 2 potions.

It's not always best to hit everybody you can, since you may later need a group of monsters to have the same-colored shield. Sometimes you need to purposely avoid, say, a werewolf that you can easily hit so that you'll be able to use a later potion that can't avoid him.

There's a total of 90 puzzles, spread out on 3 pages.

with the new update all my concerns were adressed:
    - it works just fine on my old iPhone 2G
    - I love "absurd" difficulty

now it is the best logic+action game out there next to Archibald's Adventures :)

Awesome, the update is finally posted. Took over a week from submission. Here's what's new:

    USER PROFILES
Switch between 3 independent profile slots at any time.
    PERFORMANCE
Enjoy silky smooth framerates on all devices.
    COLOR ADJUSTMENT
Easily compensate for common forms of color blindness using the new "Color Blindness" setting.
    NEW DIFFICULTY
If you were unphased by HARD mode before, try ABSURD difficulty. Warning: It's way too hard.
    NEW CELEBRATION
    The Tomahawk!
    BACKGROUND AUDIO
Listen to your own background music while playing.
    HARDER FASTER
Tweaked difficulty curve to ramp up the challenge faster.
    ENDLESS PUZZLES
As always, every playthrough is unique. All puzzles are generated randomly for each game.

Now that the housekeeping stuff is out of the way, we're working hard on a content update. New puzzles, monsters, and characters. No release date yet :)

Awesome update, I'm loving the smooth victory animations. I must say my favorite is "The Pointer" with a close second being the new "Tomahawk."

    THREADURRECTION!

For those of you still playing, or looking to start, we've got a big Helsing's Fire 1.2 update in review at Apple.

    Included:
    - New campaign with 30 levels, a new story, new boss character, new monster type, and new survival arena
    - New Bounties mode to compete against other players worldwide
    - New Journal screen to replay/share your recently played puzzles
    - New puzzle challenges that require you to ADD shields to solve them
    - Some other stuff

Here's a few shots (suitably obscured to avoid spoilers):
    [IMG][IMG]
    [IMG][IMG]

The first 1.1 update was more of a maintenance thing but for 1.2, we tried to add a lot of new content and features. The Bounties system opens up an ever-increasing set of tough puzzles that you're working against other players to solve. And if at any time you get stuck on a puzzle, or if you find a really interesting one, you can use the Journal to email it, or paste the code online so anyone that has Helsing's Fire can play it.

I hope it's approved soon, and I hope you guys like it.
