Soft drink exploded all over my iPad and charger :/ I'm typing on my iPad now but the screen keeps activating itself so it's hard to type.

    Suggestions?

My charger is dead BTW so I can't even try to charge the iPad.

Always heard rice was good for getting moisture out of the components so if you have a bowl big enough and enough rice this might be one to try. However it has to be big rice as you don't want it to get stuck in the iPad ports. But if it is just a splash over the screen (rather than a submersion where liquid would get everywhere) then just wipe it off with a lightly damp cloth and then dry would be my advice.

ahhh no. no charging. no trying to turn it on.

vacuum it as much as you can. put in the fridge (less moisture in cold air) but take it out every 20 mins for 5 mins. Then put it under a light 50cm away.

Don't you mean take it out every 5 minutes for 20 minutes?

First thing you do is turn it off before you fry every last circuit in that poor little machine. Then throw in some rice for 3-4 days and don't touch it. I think it's also best to have a heat source near it.

Rice & liquid is one thing but it's a soft drink...meaning sticky liquid sugar.

If that stuff in inside rice is not going to fix that.

    But good luck

Pretty much what he said. See if there's an electronics shop near-by that can dismantle and clean it safely.

Part of me wants to laugh, but the other part wants to give you a bro hug and tell you it'll be ok.

Damn that sucks, I hate it when my drink is all shook up and it explodes and wastes half of it.

Not sure what to recommend, maybe try sucking your iPad, but the best option is probably just to finish off the drink and if you still want more then open another.

  16. You can move the screen?

    Turn off ipad.
Get some kitchen towels amd stuff ready, turn the ipad upside down, attempt to pry screen off (dont bother if this takes more than 5 mins) and if it comes off, wash screen and wipe up the main screen gently with a towel. Very light motion to remove the water and you'll need to do something about tge sugar... But I'll leave that. Unless you get this far.

I can move the area being activated by tilting the iPad.

And I really wanted to avoid prying the screen off. I might try and find a local shop that will do it for me,

What about putting in something relatively airtight with a bunch of desiccant? The kitty litter that is super absorbent should gather the moisture.

I'm not saying put it in the kitty litter, just in a container with the litter in a plastic bag with a bunch of holes in it. Of get the packing stuff. It's the same. Draws moisture out of the air.

Of course it does nothing for the dried residue that will be inside.

    Good luck though.
