Lately I have been saving some cash and I have about $350 USD right now. I am trying to decide whether to get a Sony PS Vita or Nintendo 3DS, so should I get the Vita or 3DS?
I'd wait until the PS Vita will actually be released so you can look at some reviews and such before making a final decision. But I'm pretty excited about the Vita's capabilities at this point.
I want the Vita myself but I have a few concerns over it unlike the first PSP you can't switch the battery I don't like that I always kept a spare PSP battery and the price of games looks like it will be about the same as full console games. Despite those it will be mine. I don't like the 3DS at all , maybe if it had a bigger battery and unfortunately Capcom has started a trend on it where games can only be played through once so they can't be resold. My biggest problem is if I buy a game for a considerable price I want to play it more than once so this system is not for me.
i would wait until vita comes out and compare the games availiable at launch time and then see whitch games ara more apealing for you. My choice is clear since i can´t see 3d graphics and that´s realy the point of the 3ds. (sorry for my bad english)
The only thing I recall hearing about is being unable to reset the high score list in RE Mercenaries, in order to give the game something of an arcade cabinet feel. You can start the game over though. They also said such a tactic was unlikely to happen again after all the bad press it got. But back on topic... I'd definitely wait for the release of Vita if I were you. Nobody knows enough about it for a reliable comparison.
No you only get to see the story the first time you play. You can replay levels but you miss out on the plot. That's why it has no second hand value and also no replay value. Capcom have killed the 3DS to me it's the cheapest move a company has pulled on it's own customers yet imho.
I was never particularly impressed with the DS and that goes double for the 3DS. At the same price point I'd say the PS velVita is the obvious choice. How many times can a person play Mario Kart and pretend the franchine didn't run out if steam after MK64?
The DS was badass even without Mario Kart, mainly for Ninja Gaiden, Castlevania, Jump Ultimate Stars, Bangai-O, Yoshi's Island DS, Phantom Hourglass and the Sonic games... I heard there was no story? The Mercenaries sideline has always been non-canon, arcade stuff. I did hear you unlock stages through points progression though, so they would remain open. RE: Mercenaries is not a great game anyway, it couldn't possibly spoil an entire gaming platform. We've got a real Resident Evil game on the way and Capcom have said it's not likely to repeat the same save setup again.
Do you have a 360 or PS3? You could buy either plus a few games and likely have a much better time than dabbling in brand new hardware and mediocre launch titles.
I'd wait for some good Vita titles to officially be announced. The 3DS has some great official titles announced for 2011, but whether it will be well supported by 3rd party developers has yet to be seen. And while the Vita has great specs, I personally judge the overall system by the games that come out for it, and if those games live up to their name on the device.
Quad core cpu and quad core gpu as soon as I read that I wanted it. For a handheld it's packing some serious power. At first I took the "powerful as a PS3" articles for hype but then they showed uncharted, wipeout, streetfighter x tekken and even if it isn't quite PS3 it's very impressive. I think for once Sony has done everything right except maybe the name.
Sony does not screw around when it comes to gaming hardware that's for sure. The PSP was ahead of it's time, MP4 video support, huge screen, and upgradeable firmware made it extremely impressive for a portable device back in 2004. The fact that the original model can do everything the later ones can except for video out while Nintendo opted to release a new DS model just for DLC halfway through it's lifespan says something.
