So here's a list of everything I have: PS3 (non-slim 80GB model, KZ2 Bundle) 2 Controllers Hori Wireless Fighting Stick 19 games, including hits like RDR, UC and UC2, AC2 and AC:B, NG:Sigma 1 and 2, Marvel vs Capcom 3, SSFIV, KZ3, and others The majority of my playing time goes towards portable gaming on my iPhone 4 and occasionally, PC Gaming (Crysis 2, NBA 2k11, Black Ops). I do consider Unchartered I and II two of the most amazing games i've ever played/experienced, however - if there's only one reason for me to keep my PS3, it would probably be Uncharted 3 coming later this year. BUT... my temptation for wanting an iPad 2 is becoming a bit overwhelming. Should I part ways with my PS3 and collection? Or keep it?
Depends. I rarely use my Ps3 (mainly play Xbox) but I use my iPad everyday. If you never play PS3 and play PC, then you might want to consider selling it. Even for me it would be a tough choice, and I literally never play my PS3.
That's my problem - I play it only when a big release comes out, then it's collecting dust for months. The next time I turn it on will probably be near the end of this year (Uncharted 3) :/
If you only use it as a gaming machine maybe it isn't worth keeping but I use my PS3 as a blu-ray player and to stream video from my iMac. The upscaling quality is far superior to the XBOX 360's and the fact that I can play PS1 and PS2 games on it makes it worth keeping hooked up even if I rarely play new games on it and have sworn to never spend another penny on Sony products. The iPad is a nice "thing" but it's never going to match a console as a gaming device and no amount of processing power is going to change that fact. As an early adopter I'm still not totally sold on the iPad's potential and I've owned one since last year's launch. It's an expensive little toy and if you don't have the cash now I'd say skip it, a better model is less then 12 months away.
I'd say wait til E3. There are likely going to be several reveals that might pique your interest, and it's not like your PS3 will depreciate in value between now and then. Maybe start selling off some of the games that you know for sure you won't play again, but hold onto the system and things you think you might want to replay down the line. I strongly recommended Amazon for selling games, the marketplace makes it very easy to list stuff and find buyers and you'll always get more than you will from GameStop or whatever.
No no no. The lifespan of the ps3 has been 5 years and counting. The iPad 2 will be bested next year, just like the iPad 1. My friend sold his ps3, regretted it, and is now console-gameless. A console and a computer lasts years. How many people Will care about their ipad2 when apple announces ipad3. Sony probably won't announce a new console for at least 2 more years.
You never play your Ps3 because you play your xbox. I bet if you broke the xbox, you'd be playing your ps3.
No, I'd just get another xbox. every multiplat game I have is on the xbox. The only games I have for PS3 are exclusives. It would be less expensive for me to buy another xbox than to buy every game I have again for the PS3. Overall I think the 360 is a better system. I don't think you'd regret it. I had a Wii too, and it sat there collecting dust like my PS3. I sold that, and yes there are some moments where you wish you could play SSBB again or get a new game for it, but I wouldn't say I regret it. I made like 300 bucks off of that, for something I never used. Pretty good, I'd say.
And also it seems like you have a lot of stuff and could get way more than the 600 bucks needed for an iPad. You can use the extra money to buy games for iOS or PC.
Nooooooooo. That is the worst thing you could do. Don't do it! Not even an iPad 2 is worth the parting of ways with a PS3 and that many awesome games.
Keep it. You've got an iPhone 4. The iPad 2 isn't different enough to warrant the loss of an entire console. What really matters is having access to games and you've already got access to most of the iPads library on your phone.
I traded my PS3 for a 1st gen iPad, and couldn't be happier! It really comes down to how much you play the ps3, I've had mine for 4 months and used it 2-3 times... Not by choice, the wife or kid always has control of the TV. At least now I can use my iPad around the house for Netflix and gaming... Plus I use it as a remote desktop around the house to do stuff like video editing... All in all iPad is very cool and I'm happy with my decision to trade BUT it isn't for everyone. If use the ps3 a good amount I would keep it. Maybe sell the games you don't play and save for iPad? Good luck!
Keep PS3 because any game could come along that you think is amazing and regret selling. Just get a job and save up. If you want it bad, you'll get it easily. That's how I've come to have all my gadgets and lavish lifestyle! Lol
I'd say sell it, not to be a "fanboy" but im more an XBox fan & (i nvr had a PS3, but i had PS1 & 2) because of Sony's childish (IMO) actions, mostly dragging it out for this long, against Geohot, i sold my FW flashed (5.50 GEN-D3 CFW) PSP-2k1, since i lost all respect for them but, overall, it is your choice, thats just my opinion.
Letting Sony dictate your fun like that sounds even more childish if you ask me. They can do whatever they want to people who go against their terms of service, I'm not letting Geohot and a bunch of pirates stop me playing games.
The absolutely have the right to stop people from connecting to PSN if they've hacked it, but what about demanding the identities behind the IP addresses of anyone that's visited his site, viewed the jailbreaking video on youtube, visited a particular forum on the subject and anyone whose donated to him in the last two years? They're collecting info on people that might not even own the PS3 in order to get the trial moved from NJ to California and the court is just handing it over without issue. I have a huge problem with that and I have a huge problem with Sony's long standing attitude that their entire user base are potential pirates and treating them as such. The 360 and Wii have had massive piracy issues for years and neither Microsoft nor Nintendo has ever reacted so severely. I'm not about to sell off all my Sony hardware but I certainly don't feel comfortable giving them any more of my money.
I say keep your PS3. The iPad 2 is only a slight improvement over the iPad 1 and I would wait until next years version to come out which will hopefully be a more dramatic upgrade. If the iPad 3 comes with a higher resolution display then it will be worth it for that alone
IMO, ipad upgrated too fast seems useless somehow and it's not a real game machine like xbox, ps3. If you're a game fan, keep ps3.
