Have you downloaded Riddenhurst. It's on sale so now is the time to get it. It's quite good. Controls are a little bit weird but I'm really getting into it now
I like Riddenhurtst very much! Took me a while to get used to moving around too. Maybe it's a sign we have played too many IDAC games it feels weird exploring the outdoors! LOL
Nope, hadn't heard of it. Will look into it now. Thanks for the recommendation! Edit: Haven't bought it, but it does look promising. How far have you gotten, though? The developers said the first release is only 15% of the story. Is it enough to be worth buying now or should I wait?
No, honestly, navigating around is just broken: - I have still no idea when there is a forward arrow and when not - the mixture of being able to pan around a little but not really drives me nuts - the choice of locations is probably good for best looking angles of stuff, but it is hell for orientation. You see a corner of a house and want to see what is around the corner, but taking a step just gives you a completely different view. It still really dont know how many houses there are or if it is all just one and the same. Beyond that there isn't anything I would remotely call a puzzle, just combine the obvious items and you are done.
You get at least one update for free, so you can buy and hope. For now it seriously lacks content (in form of puzzles) plus read above.
I agree that the navigation leaves a lot to be desired. I find it very difficult and sometimes frustrating to return to a place I have been. I can see it but can't get to it. Removing the arrows and just having touch to move forward and being able to pan 360 degrees would be much better. It is very Myst like as there are no real puzzles. You just find and use objects to progress. It is very immersive and I often lose an hour or two when I start playing. I am enjoying it very much and can't wait for the update to be released to continue the journey
Thanks. I don't know anyone who plays these games but when I find someone...... Has anyone played The Cage (IDAC)?
I don't think they have to play anything. They just have to download the app. And input a code that they are sent. So it can be anyone you know with iPad or iPhone
Hey AppUnwrapper, The initial release was meant to be a prelude to the story and introduce you to the game. All of our serial story updates will be free. We have 3 major updates to the story planned. Our second installment is coming soon and will open the game up considerably. The first part is small in comparison and I'll admit that it lacks a bit in mini-puzzles. But part 2 has several mini-puzzles scattered throughout. One you have previewed already...the green control panel in the outpost building. I encourage you all to be a bit patient as once you breach the walls of the castle...this game really takes off. We released it early to get your juices flowing. We originally planned to release part 1 and 2 together but the development scheduled pushed out too far...and we wanted a Nov. release. The update will also include a hint system...so that is coming. As for disorientation...dark forests are supposed to be a bit disorienting. Don't worry though...once you are inside the castle walls...navigation becomes much easier as there are MANY more unique visual landmarks to help you get around. Stay tuned...and if you have any questions about Riddenhurst...go ahead and post them here...I'll keep an eye on the thread and try to answer them promptly. Thank you all for choosing Riddenhurst. Us "little guys" appreciate the attention and feedback. We want to make this game great and your feedback is very helpful in to us in refining the game.
Thanks for all the info Glad to hear there will be several updates. I will check out the game, bc it looks very promising. On another note, just noticed a new IDAC game in the app store. Downloading now.
I'm on the Abandoned Factory and can't for the life of me decode the clue on the table to the left of the door. Anyone else playing? Nevermind, got it!
That one was hard. Found it difficult to get going and finding items. Think that clue on the table is used near the end so leave that for now and do some more exploring
I think I'm nearly done, but can't figure out how to separate the pencils. I tried everything with them, tapped just about every pixel (learned my lesson from Uninspired Man), but it's still a box of 10 pencils. And I need to get one out!
I don't think you can use them until you have progressed to a certain stage. Spoiler Like the rope/knife, etc, you can't combine them when you first got them until later when you really need to. Perhaps you have clues/puzzles still need to deal with?
Ahh IDAC, once again we clash. The pencils are driving me mad. Can't figure out how to separate one to use it!
I'm missing only 4 items. I have the paper, shouldn't I be able to use a pencil with it? I even got the blue circle already.
You are right Spoiler 1 Spoiler and actually you need to etch/stencil something. Spoiler 2 Spoiler Remember if you encountered any uneven surface, that might be blocking the movement of some sort of fixtures?
