I don't believe for a second that picture is real... Edit: Apparently it is. Huh. Thanks, mother nature.
My cousin is an ecologist. At one point he allowed one of those things to oviposit on his arm so he could observe it. He watched it grow for quite a while but it became too painful so he suffocated it and cut it out.
Yeah when I say boiling I don't mean boil your kettle and burn yourself I would just suggest putting it under very hot water, but not so hot it burns you
http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/9/98/Magendassel.jpg This is the larvae, it's small at the beginning stadium. If you're infected and you wanna get rid of it, forget hot water or soap. Either see a doc or attempt to seal the breathing hole of the larva with nail polish or similiar stuff and then, after a day, squeeze out the suffocated, dead larva. The removal process hurts a bit. Use of adhesive tape can also work to remove it while alive, but carries additional risk of infection because portions of the larva's breathing tube can be broken off by the tape and make the remainder of the body difficult to remove.
Oh well, wanna see a pic through the microscope in the later stadium? It's a quite chubby darling, later. Be glad that these come in size of an inch and not several feet. http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-kikWwAjMjRc/UBcVtCvqNcI/AAAAAAAAKSo/h2kILnCtYn4/s640/SPL_SEM_C0122429-Botfly_larva.jpg Quite an interesting mechanic; to bond with its host, the larvae spreads the tiny thorns at the edges of the rings. Works like a zipper.
Why that? It's nature, fascinating. I am neither ironic nor sarcastic nor mean. And one botfly larvae won't kill anybody. A doc makes one little circular cut and removes the larvae, if it is small and under the skin. But this isn't even neccessary. A much better solution is the use of a venom extraction syringe. A larvae can be easily removed with this syringe - in ANY state. I am also totally fascinated by spiders. They're, in fact, an own race, and not insects. No other life form compares to them. If you look at them in a technical way, they're masterpieces of nature. 8-egged movent, special sight, ability to produce on of the most hard but flexible materials on earth, to glide through the air, walk wherever they want, net-building, trap-building, ability to produce venom... that's just cool. For some larvae removal vids, check youtube. Deleted the vids because of those "faint of heart", also modified my pics so you have to click the link. Sheesh. People play gory horror games but can't stand the sight of a botfly larvae...
Errr yeah ! If i was worried that some fly/spider or something had bitten me, hmmm would i go to a doctors to get checked out or would i write a thread about it on an iOS games site ? You totally overreacted, if you are somehow STILL worried simply go to a doctors.
Well, Echoseven, everyone was making fun of robot until they saw my picture. It's kinda looks like something you would see on a zombie movie. Cygnetseven says that I am a zombie, is this how zombies are made?
It is interesting that it was posted on an ios gaming site, but you did find one expert on the subject, a non ironic non sarcastic and non mean Vovin. This post too is kinda sarcastic, not really ironic, and not mean. But I did learn alot from reading this thread. Sometimes it is interesting what you find on the internet. I too kinda just at first assumed like it was just a big housefly like others here. Kinda like how some people are terrified at spiders and scream. But in this case there does to seem to be more concern. Though I doubt in this case just cause of the quick contact and soap washing, it will probably be fine. Robot, just keep an eye on it. If it starts to hurt or shows any bruise or puss discharge, go see a doctor, if not, go back to playing Dead Trigger. Zombies are far more dangerous than this.
