Well... This didn't turn out to be the next Sky Force. It feels slow compared to that game. The controls are lacking, the shooting mechanic frels strange. Only shooting when you are really close to an enemy, does not in my opinion make for a fun game. Also some strange slow down, tiresome sound effects and ... Well.. Go grab Sky Force if you want a great freemium shoot 'em up.

Hopefully an update will get rid of the fixed firing mechanism. This game stinks in its current state.

Not sure if an update can fix this travesty of a game.
Man I wish CAVE would release a new iOS shmup, they haven't done anything in ages.

Can you explain why? Elaborate a little of you could.

    Has potential.

I also wish someone would do the Desert Strike etc games on iOS. Also, anyone remember Silkworm - that would be awesome too on iPhone or iPad.

Anyway, upgrading guns / missiles a couple of levels makes the first couple of levels a bit more bearable - but agree there's too much stuff in the way of enemies and feel the enemy bullets are too big. That's not because I'm lame but perhaps 'difficulty' is a bit steep to begin with. Maybe cynical to think its an IAP ploy!

Not unlocked any other choppers yet, maybe continuous fire features on those others. So I'm almost ok with that first chopper only firing in bursts, but too much debris about and makes it borderline annoying.

As mentioned, has potential, and also does look nice. I will grind away here and there and see what the other upgrades and maybe the next chopper brings to the game.

    Tip : only just realised...

After a game, there's a "x2" in the top left. Touch to watch an advert and it doubles the coins you just collected in that level. Helps with the coin farming! It's been there 3 games so far in a row, hopefully means it's there all the time!

    Apologies if obvious!!!

Anyone know what all the diff power ups do. I bought the 1000 one by mistake and it was a one-off smart bomb type attack.

    Persevere with this game!

It's actually really good once you have a few upgrades done.

Unlocked the new chopper, is more agile and has more armour. The weapons you upgrade apply to all choppers so it's not a waste in that respect. Unlocked the next cannon and missiles - makes a massive difference.

Combined with the "x2" coins thing after each level, you can rack up coins at a reasonable rate.

I tested your theory and this game is starting to grow on me. It's no where near as good as Sky Force but the grind is fair and the x2 coin doubler after each level really helps.

Whenever I die I keep reviving myself.....so far I can't tell if that deducts anything.

If I understand correctly, reviving cost comes out of your coins...

    Yep - reviving costs coins.

    Still kinda hooked.

Level 4 is an escort mission...I hated escort levels in countless other games on other platforms...not the most fun level for Heli Hell, but I suppose it's commendable fitting this in a scrolling shooter for variety.

Fortunately, I got enough challenge medals (or whatever they're called) to get to level 5. Oddly, when I choose level 5, it shows a padlock and a lifetime pilot license on top of the picture, then it takes me to the IAP screen. But I managed to play the level once before. Not sure what's happening, but cannot play it again.

Upgrades are getting pretty pricey now, the grind has got harder as expected. Will carry on though, try and get all 15 medals in unlocked levels so far.

I would say I'm still enjoying it!

This is a pretty good game. I was unfair in my first impressions of the game. You have to take into consideration that you're controlling a helicopter instead of a ship like in Sky Force so the controls and handling will be different. I like how there are no timers I this game. The graphics and gameplay are very smooth on an iPhone 5s. Playing the game on an iPad 2 there are slow downs and the graphics on an iPad 2 aren't that great. Sky Force looks great on an iPad 2.

I'd like to see an update for continuous fire instead of the auto firing when you're locked on a target.

I can't seem to figure out if this game has iCloud support or not. I'd like to sync my progress from iPhone to iPad.

I hope to see more shmups like this one and Sky Force in the future. You can never have too many shmups. :D

Just started playing this one. So far it really fun. I can't really compare to Sky Force. They are both great games. I seem to be finding myself going back to this one a little more though. Plus, (and a huge plus), no timers!

So in order to play stage 5 you have to make an IAP. Seems fair.

Thanks but it's a bug and it's about to be fixed in the upcoming update. It should be submitted to Apple in the end of the week. So let's hope it will be live next week!

None. But I dream about being able to work again.

Didn't care for anything but the looks when I first played it but it quickly grew on me. It's very hard to play before the first gun update is bought but it improves very quickly with each update.
Being able to play all you want is a nice "feature" (sad it's come to this in some titles).
For you guys/gals that want relative touch to see your ship, get a stylus. Best purchase outside of my screen protector I made. No prints all over the screen and nearly nothing is covered in gameplay. I started using rubber tipped ones but they wear out too fast. The cloth covered rubber are the best and they last a long time.

I use this rig that can have the tips replaced...
