Right, so I just completed this game. And I have to say it's been a blast! A little short but was a really good trip while it lasted, can't remember when I actually found a game amusing on it's own. Btw though, did anyone who completed the game catch the site they gave? I caught the main page but not the part after the forward slash. :/
I think they're following the Sam and Max model of short(er), episodic adventure games. Frankly, I much prefer that than one long, plodding one. Considering the price/quality ratio, I think it's more than fine.
I would love to get this game, but I keep thinking theres an iPad version of the best games on the way, and there usually is...don't want to double dip.
Purchased this as soon as it was available and I am loving every minute of it. The game is very polished, has fantastic (and witty) dialog, great characters, puzzles which can be solved with simple logic, and the art is just incredible. The only suggestion I have is as someone else said it would be nice if you had subtitles during the intro and any other cut scenes. I've read the entire thread and like most I also had some trouble in the beginning. A couple things to note, you can double tap on someone to talk to them. Also you can double tap an item in your inventory to inspect it. Tapping on one item in your inventory then another lets you use the two items together. If you have trouble don't rush online to find the solution, keep trying until you find the answer on your own. You will feel a sense of satisfaction and lengthen the game. Not to mention the solutions are usually pretty easy so once you find out what to do you will feel dumn for not thinking of it on your own.
No one's completed the game yet!? And this isn't part of the game anyway, I can't figure out what he's saying because his sodding accent is too damned heavy at the end.
One thing I forgot to mention. I was playing last night and put the game into sleep a couple different times... anyway when I turned it back on the audio seemed messed... there was no dialog. I turned off the iPod and turned it back on and everything was back to normal.
I've been in the UK all my life and I was like ??? When I was speaking to the Irish drunk in the alley.
It's supposed to be gibberish because the guy is drunk. Even with the subtitles on, you can't make sense of what he's saying.
Oh yea, absolutely. Especially if you're not too familiar with British slang. The game is still loads of fun and the production value is top notch. I'm not really into adventure games and I'm having a blast with this one.
i bought this yesterday and haven't gotten around playing it yet. i also just now stumbled over the release notes for the first patch that's already out: well the app description was funny enough but if the game is anything along the lines of this patch note then holy friggin' [insert name of any godlike character here]. i so do have to try this out before going to bed... imo the best original p&c on the device so far has been "all fridges are psychotic" but judging from what i've read about "hector: badge of carnage ep. 01" this might be up there with the original sam&max or dott.
Hey guys, there's an update. I don't know about you but I think I'll wait and see. Maybe someone who's finished should try it first. I hope this isn't the 'G' rated version.
There is even a shout out to the TA forums in the update description! (at least the one that appears on my iTouch under updates!)
