Yes, IAP. This is the business plan at the moment: You can download the game for free and you get one race map and one battle map. If you like the game, you can buy more maps. For example you get pack of three race maps for $ 0.99. When you fly around the caves you are able to collect diamonds which you can use to buy extra weapons. For lazy players there's an option to buy diamonds. We haven't test the diamonds yet. If purchasing diamonds makes the multiplayer game unfair, we'll have to come up with some other extra weapon solution. Paid version that includes all the maps could be great too, but we try the free version first.
Good to know. Will check it out. There are freemium games that are fair, other arent. I give something back when I get a great game for free (Dead Ahead, Quadropus Rampage so far). Hoping this is one of them
I read an article about Oceanhorn developers and now we have to reconsider if the IAP is good idea at all for our tiny devteam. It would be much easier to make simple paid game and forget all evil IAP plans.
Personally it depends on the IAP. I did think your set-up seemed a bit...weird, I guess?, but I find something like a free download with a full game unlock perfectly reasonable. Of course paid with no IAP is best
Personally, I would go for a paid app from the get-go. The difficulty is in getting people to download the game initially, so it might be worth having a free lite version of the game, or as the guy above says, have the full game unlockable via IAP. Gravity Force 2 was an absolute classic, so I'm delighted to see this one on it's way to the App Store. Would you guys consider putting this across to other platforms too? Playing this split-screen on PS4 would be a dream come true!
We've now decided to make a paid app. Releasing the lite version is a logical next step. We'll make iOS version first, then Mac. We have talked about PS4 version too, but let's see first with iOS and Mac -version if there's market for this kind of game at all. Of course there's always that possibility that PS4 is one and only right platform for this kind of game.
This is an awesome turn around for an amazing looking game. It's cool to see things like this actually happen
That is great news. I still think releasing as free with a one time unlock makes the most sense in general, but I will not argue with a paid/lite versions. Good stuff.
Amazing to hear that. Most devs go freemium for the buck but stand your ground and believe that your product is going to sell. I hail to you, Heavy Rockets devs :?
Very good choice, I often don't like to download free games full of IAP and I am pretty sure I'll buy your game the day it will come out, looks amazing! Will it be out for 2014 1Q?
It's all gone... mysteriously quiet on this one. If you guys are in need of any help with beta testing, I'd be very glad to help. Played years of Gravity Force 2 on the Amiga at Uni so I'm fairly well qualified (rocking an iPad Air 32GB)
