You can remove the book one. You won't need to have played book one to enjoy book 2, but they'll be linked somehow.

Doesn't your data/stats carry over to book 2 then?

But isn't that the whole idea of building up your character all through book 1?
All the stat/skill choices are a waste of time then? :(

Nope, the dice game crap shoot ruins what could be an engaging story. Even in the first encounters with barely any skill points or inventory allocated, the computer numerically won against me in the forced combat sections with the broken dice decider, 15+ [random] times in a row. This isn't fun it's mediocre content awashed with bullcrap random mechanics. 2/5 stars, the only because some half-way decent sci-if writer got tricked into collaborating onto what amounts to shit.

This is your opinion, and that's fine. Granted, the game is no doubt a challenge, but that's what keeps you on the edge of your feet. I think I died in the first 8-10 minutes, but I used one of my three saves and things were good, for a moment. I died again half way through the story, used another save. Within a week I finished the story and I was in love with it and the gamebook mechanic. I was hooked and I bought the second story when it came out. I've only read the first chapter because I just can't find the time to play it. Bottom line, give it a second go around. It's totally worth it.

I loved the first book, great story... Only died once in it.
I helped bug search for it too.

Can't wait to get this one, but can't afford it for a while yet :(

This is the first one. :p Sol Invictus is the sequel.

Unless you mean you the first gamebook by Cubus Games, which is something entirely different.
