Well hey, some people actually like the sport, y'know. Not the, uh, other stuff (hooliganism, etc.).

Not really. Faith is having a belief in something you don't have evidence for. Music is clearly all around us, so it's not really a faith at all.

That's one definition. Another one (going by the dictionary...) is "confidence and trust in a person or thing", and another is "belief in anything, as a code of ethics, standards of merit, etc". Both of those fit.

Faith in yourself is a good quality to keep - faith in an organization, stranger, or anything outside yourself can let you down from time to time and time again.

Nooo! They never let me down! They do all these good things like invent cars and build hospitals and cure sick babies. All I have to do believe everything they say without question!

hmm - funny I wasn't thinking about that, but yeah I do disagree with the current state... in a weird sort of way it can vaguely be traced back to music and its history of drug ab/use. But I was more referencing the grand facade.

Not really. It doesn't have to be something you don't have evidence for. It can easily be a strong belief in something, anything.

The whole thing isn't supposed to be taken too literally anyway. It's just a way of saying that in this day and age, some people put the importance of music above religion. That it's a good replacement and that the devotion of fans to the music scene shares similarities with religion. We're not trying to say it technically fits under the description of one.

Eh, religion never really dealt with technicalities anyway.

Oh come now... look into the sky on a clear night and you can physically see the spark that was created when Jesus screeched his Vette through the gates of heaven and backfired.

So basically when music says shoot yourself, you're gonna go do that? No thanks. I like my religion.

    People are weird these days.

How many bands even tell you to shoot yourself anyway? Lyrics involving guns, death, satanism and the like aren't necessarily preaching or advocating anything, they're usually either telling a story or sharing an opinion. The great thing about music is that you don't have to take it literally, unlike what a lot of people think about various holy texts.

    :p

You'd think and hope so - but there are still some very easily offended people living in this day and age.

Hey I don't have a problem with music. I don't like Heavy Metal, but that's my opinion.

So if you don't BELIEVE in music, then how is it a religion?

Music is great but I don't think there can be such a thing as music being a religion.

...and I do believe a lot of things about music.
