Hello - im in the same situation will gladly play with someone who is starting adventure with the game. My battleTag: Endeauvirr#1204
I'm not sure I want that announced. That brawl card is great. I've had it in the arena and it can definitely be a game changer.
WOAH!!! Gold Nat Pagle and Gold Brawl???????? I.WANT. ..Not to mention the Mindgames as cherry on top.
My BattleTag is Xerxian#1237 If you want to be added, put your Battletag in your forum signature - impossible to wade through 60 pages looking for tags to add.
If it's any consolation, the other 14 packs I opened with that one weren't very good. I had one other legend; Millhouse Manastorm - which as far as I can make out is only good for dust! A question about the game - is there a Tournament Mode to unlock? I see talk on Hearthstone forums of tournaments but see no way to play in these (not that I'm good enough yet, but just curious). Jamie
Hells yeah. You can google for decklists for Ramp Druid and Watcher Druid. I believe they are considered top tier right now.
In Arena or Constructed? I read an interesting article where some decent player played a load of games in the Arena and recorded his results vs other Hero types and the conclusion was from best to worst: Hunter Rogue/Mage Warrior/Shaman Druid Paladin/Priest Warlock However, constructed is likely to be quite different. Probably dependent to some extent on the kind of player you are too. I'm currently enjoying Shaman, Hunter and Warlock the most. I do love how much variation and depth this game has; there's so much playability in it! Jamie
I think so. You don't get a lot of good cards to start but once you level to 10 you can make a decent cheap deck. If you choose the right cards (ones that increase mana) and with a little luck you surprise your opponent with a high mana card very early in the game. I FINALLY got my first and only legendary last night after opening around 35 packs, Baron Geddon. Is he worth keeping? He looks like he could do some decent AOE, problem is he AOEs your minions too. Maybe if you played him with some on your enrage minions he might work. Any thoughts?
He's usually a staple in control decks, coz he wrecks weenie decks on his own. Other than that, he's one of those Legendaries that are only useful in a few situations. Problem with Geddon's synergy with enrage minions is that he'll still kill them the next turn. I've seen priests use healing to sustain your own minions while geddon wreaks havoc on the other side of the board, but not consistently. Better stick to Warrior's Cruel Taskmasters, Whirlwinds and Inner Rages, and Mage's hero ability to proc enrage, or even just use neutral pingers like Elven Archers, Wild Pyros or Ironforge Riflemen. Or the old school way, hit a smaller minion that your enrage minion can survive to proc enrage.
Druid is the most versatile class in my opinion. It can go from full control, to aggro and sometimes both. The class cards have 1 or 2 options for effects. I'm running a Druid ramp right now and it catapulted me to rank 3.. It might just be the deck to send me to the legendaries.
So how long has this game been around for? What are 'seasons'? How frequently do they run, for how long and why? How do tournaments work? There's no option in the menu for any tournament play? Jamie
Seasons are monthly. http://hearthstone.gamepedia.com/Play_mode#Seasons "Ranked" mode is the tournament.
Ah, got it - so your ranking gets reset each month? If Ranked Mode is the tournament, there's never a single winner? Just those who reach 'Legend'? Or is there a leaderboard of your explicit 'placing'? Thanks - Jamie
Can someone explain to me the different types of decks? Aggro, ramp, control? I'm not sure what they mean
Am I the only one greatly dissatisfied with the matchmaking? I haven't unlocked anything good yet or to alter my good working basic decks yet, but I managed to win streak from rank 25 to rank 18, where I was matched with some dudes with legendaries and plenty of rares and epics (they obviously broke the streak). Ever since, I either get matched with those or with people who have the same or similar cards as I am, and almost everytime those legendary guys pop up, it's an instant lose, and the other way a good chance to win. I cannot level up because even if I get to win a few games, every legendary-defined decks kicks me back the same direction. I just wish unlockable cards would just offer more tactics and depth rather than just being better, but heck, that's not the (gaming) world we live in anymore.
Aggro is usually Hunter, Warlock and Mage, that uses cheap minions to overrun you. They will usually hit the face only, meaning you, the hero. They will let you trade with their minions instead. They can win as early as turn 4. Control is usually warrior, druid, shaman, where they try to keep the board clear, and at around 6 mana, they put down bigger and stronger minions. These are slow and usually wins very late in the game. Ramp is a druid specific deck build, taken from magic the gathering's rampant growth, meaning accelerate mana. Innervate and wild growth as well as nourish is key. They can bring down turn 4 ragnaros. Mid-Range is usually any other deck that wins around turn 7-10 and is basically a tempo based deck, meaning they clear the board and put down efficient minions. For example, warriors fiery war axe, once used, can keep the board clear for two turns. The next turn you are free to do anything (since you still have 1 charge in your weapon enough to take down any 3 health minions, and you have 3 open mana) Unlike flamestrike, once you use it at turn 7, while you did clear the board, you pass your turn without doing anything anymore. Tempo is to dictate the board by maximizing your mana each turn. Rogue is one of the best class for tempo decks.
I have been playing since October 2013. I have a lot of cards and around 14 legendaries. But I am currently progressing with a hunter deck with 1 legendary (not needed too) and no epics. Probably a few rares. My rogue with 5 legendaries loses to these aggro decks. Truth be told, knowing how the game works is better than having a legendary card. Yes. They make a big difference, but is still winnable. Drawing the right card, and luck in RnG matters too. I suggest watch streams of your favorite class, it changed my game tremendously. You would be surprised how much their plays will differ from yours. Despite my years of paper magic experience. Read articles on board control and tempo also. Use aggro decks since they are cheap to make. Control will need better epics and legendaries. Google trump free mage, shaman and warlock, where from a fresh account, he went on to be a legend for free, meaning, not having to spend anything. Of course, trump is a good player and have been playing for a long time. Feel free to post your deck and maybe we can tweak it a bit.
^Speaking of RNG, at one time i got so unlucky that my turn 1 crystal>Mad Bomber threw 3 bombs at me while the enemy had an argent squire in play.
Actually, mob bomber is also know as the 2cc flame imp. This just happened. Im dead next turn, opponent down to 6. I have no answer and drew tracking. I tracked twice, getting animal companion and summoned huffer, huffer attacks then ping hero power for the win. I feel sorry for my opponent to be honest, as i won via rng, and he was dictating the whole time.
