Go to your cards and you can see gems on them for instance purple is epic.

Okay, I see that now. Is there somewhere that explains what all the colors mean?

Look the gem in the middle of the card, between text and picture. :)

Orange gem is legendary. 1 card per deck limit.
Purple is epic, blue is rare and white is common. You can have two copy ot these in each deck!

Anyone else having trouble logging on? Keeps freezing on me and making me reset my password, it's really getting annoying!

For free, I don't have any real issues with the game. It's a lot less addicting than I thought it would be. Once I run out of ways to earn gold for the day, I don't really have any incentive to open it back up, which I was surprised would happen.

I am getting a little tired of games that pretend that unlocking content is a playmode. I feel like all the decks should have their 20 starter cards unlocked by default. Making me level to 5 with each class so I can start playing the real game feels a bit drawn out. It's like leveling to 30 and unlocking runes in LoL so I can start playing the actual game.

I actually like the level up system. It allows the player to play each class and to see which playstyle they like, and it also opens them to what type of cards enemies will pack against them.

You need to get each class to level 10 to complete their basic set. Like you said, you need to get to Lv30 in LOL first to actually play the game in its entirety. Does that make LOL a bad game? To you maybe, but not for the majority. That part gives you a taste of what you're getting into, same with Hearthstone.

Im not saying you're wrong, im saying you can reconsider and take a look at it in a different angle.

Getting all classes to lv10 will net you a lot of gold. Having 40 wins in play mode gets you lots of gold too. Every 3 wins in play mode nets you 10 gold. Everyday, there will be one quest to complete which awards gold as well.

Every day, i earn enough gold to either play arena (costs 150 gold, but pays way better) or open 1 or 2 packs, depending on which quests are given to me.

Quests can be skipped for a quest that possibly gives more gold. You can skip a quest once each day.

That said, there are a lot of ways to earn gold in the game to buy packs if you think the game doesnt deserve any of your money.

As for decks, it has been proven that each class has the potential to reach legend ranks (on the leaderboard/ladder) even when you spend nothing in the game. That means that you dont need legendaries to actually win games.

I played a third of my life playing MtG and i spend way more money in that game for packs that give me random crappy cards. The packs in Hearthstone are cheaper, mostly because they arent physical cards (costs are for hosting servers mostly, and game maintenance). One drawback in hearthstone is that you cant trade cards with others. On the bright side, you can earn packs for free, which is never possible in MtG.

I know comparing physical card games to digital ones arent the best examples, but im trying to point out a few advantages of digital card games here, and how Hearthstone is a lot more balanced when compared to other digital card games in general.

Try to get better at arena. My arena runs so far were 0-3 x2, 2-3 x2, 3-3 x2, 4-3 x1, 7-3 x1 in a progression, with the same or more wins each time. I know I probably won't get 7 wins next time, but as long as I keep getting better on average, I'm happy.

Arena at 7 wins pays more than it costs to enter, plus a pack of cards. I got 165 gold, a pack, and 15 dust. I understand the peeps that are really good at arena have no reason to do the daily quest for gold. Don't know if I'll get there, but its fun to try.

No timers and no lives!! Hooray!! Eventually a f2p game which doesn't restrict your play.

Loving this. I used to be a WOW player until around a year ago so this brings back a lot of good memories for me and love how they have implemented the legendary status and the levelling is good.

No complaints - FOR THE HORDE!

Nah, it's not as if it contained nothing good. There's a lot to learn and a lot of skill involved in playing the game well. I lets you grow as a thinker. It's not incredibly deep, but for a video strategy game, it's really quite good. Cocaine would be closer to something like FarmVille or Clash of Clans or Diablo...

Noticed what 'may' be a bug. Played a reckless rocketeer that has charge, but then I used my fireblast hero ability from jana and my fireblast rocketeer could no longer use his charge. So while I thought about why that would be, and let it sit, the rocketeer "greened" up and was able to use its charge finally. Bit strange

That's a slowdown in the connection. The game was syncing with the servers, so there was a delay.

Happens to me when im in the loo where i had very weak wifi signal.

For anyone interested; I've solved my crashing issue on the iPad mini retina. It turned out to be a localization issue. In the international setting I had set my device on "Europe", but after I changed it to my own country the game works like a charm!

Enjoying this game so far - few questions:

    (1) Is it exactly the same price to buy cards and entry to the Arena from the App store than via my Mac?

    (2) When I play the Arena, it seems quite expensive to do so... am I always guaranteed something in return once I lose (ie a pack of cards or something like that)?

    Cheers,

    Jamie

    1. Prices are the same across the platforms.

    2. Yes you are guaranteed at least one pack. Plus, it has the potential to give you more for your 150 coins. At 4 wins, there's already a chance you get more than 150's worth. Somehave even been lucky that even at zero wins they break even.

They're currently working on an iPhone version, but it will likely be some time before we see it. No definitive release date has been given yet.

Or you could just read the first page where it says that you need an iPad to run it.

My God, this game fulfilled all of my expectations. I'm totally addicted.

And finally a reasonable priced card game, where we get something for our money, if we want to buy. I'll definetly support the devs with a little IAP.
