Been playing on the Canadian store. I have not spent a penny until today and already worked up a nice collection. Just spent $120 in packs. Opened 40 and got 3 legendaries. Look me up. Fastbridge
As a MTG player it's awesome! Very similar but not exactly the same. I want to say "streamlined"? The way they handle mana is very smart, the lack of blockers (other than enemies with Taunt) keeps you on your toes, and doing "hero classes" instead of colors simplifies things (but I'm torn on whether it is less complex than MTG's multicolor deckbuilding options). Haven't played multiplayer yet, is there a list of people from TA who are playing?
I have no such problem with iPad3 and iPad Mini RD. I some how notice the now global version is a bit smoother, may be it is due to connecting to a closer server.
I think it is less complex, but the real problem is that there arent enough class cards yet. This has two implications: 1) There are too many really powerful neutral cards that end up going in literally every single deck (Harvest Golem, Defender of Argus, Shattered Sun Cleric, etc). This is a bit boring 2) The game encourages people to use stupid gimmick decks, since there isnt much variety in how the different classes can play. Hunter is probably the worst since their entire game involves just waiting to get Unleash the Hounds and a few combo cards in their hand, but all the classes have this to some degree. The game basically needs more cards (preferably not neutral ones) to add more variety.
Agree with everything. The game is repetitive, but the biggest problem I see is that due to new players coming in, and due to Aggro is cheaper to make than Control, you are basically fighting with a small set of aggro decks (theme) namely Hunter Rush/Mid Range and Warlock Aggro/Zoo. I hate to admit it, those decks work really well, and is not fun to play against. The adventure mode which should come soon will add 30 cards if I am not mistaken, and seem to focus on the deathrattle theme (which will add variety I hope). I do believe the first expansion will add 200 cards in which I'm looking forward to most.
Might get hissed at here and I'll admit I am grabbed by this hearthstone game, but if you boil it down, why does this get so much more attention than shadow era? You'd think this was the first of its kind. As much as I like it...are people aware shadow era has been around for years?
It's probably due to the fact that (in typical Blizzard) fashion, people love the universe and the production values. Hearthstone breathes new life into a rich universe that's existed since the mid-late 90's(?) and more recently, with WoW. On top of that, the production values are over the top in every way. Most card battlers I've tried just seem rough in a way that's hard to describe, when compared to Hearthstone. It's all the little details, sounds, animations, etc... * I haven't played Shadow Era
It's great. Not as fluid as PC, but game was made for touch, and now I can play it in the bathroom. nice!
Im definitely enjoying it. Played magic alot back in the day, but kind of got out of ccg after that. This however is really fun so far. I seem to be getting quite a few random disconnects though, i dont know why either as my connection is fine.
Depends if your deck of preference is an aggressive one, or a more controlling one. A third albeit a minor category is a combo strategy, which only a few legends can be effective in. Some can be effective in more than one category. Another thing to consider, the neutral legendaries are more useful, because you can use them in any class. That said, my favorites are Leeroy (only been able to use him in a couple games, and he wins them), Ragnaros (best at closing games in control decks) and Grommash (coz i play Warrior mainly). What i think are pretty cool legends too: Cairne, Jaraxxus, Bloodmage Thalnos, and Nat Pagle. I have Ysera and played him a few times, but his effect on the game is too random to actually close out games, but he does provide a strong card advantage.
Used to play this on Mac, just downloaded and played it on my daughter's iPad and wow! This game was meant to be played on iOS! Can't wait for it to come out on the iPhone (so i don't have to borrow my daughter's iPad lol)
Well played for a little longer now (probably to long) and despite the odd crash here and there along with thd ocassional disconnect, i am really digging it. Blizzard knows exactly how to tap into the addiction portion of my brain it seems.
Control - Cairne, Alexstrasza, Ragnaros (Honorable Mention: Ysera) Aggro/Tempo - Leeroy, Cairne, The Black Knight (Honorable Mention: Thalnos) Class Specific - Grommash, Jaraxxus, Al Akir (Honorable Mention: Tirion) Pagle used to be a staple on all decks, but was already nerfed a month or so. It used to draw a card END OF TURN. Which gives you a 50/50 chance of drawing a card before your opponent gets to kill it. After the nerf, I DE'd it and started using Loot Hoarders and other replacement. I miss my 4/4 Pagle (Cold Blood+0/4 Pagle). EDIT: Back then, when a card gets changed or buffed/nerfed, you can DE your cards for the full price (dust) for two weeks. I crafted my pagle for 1600 dust. When it was nerfed, I decided to DE it for 1600 dust (typically should be 400 only). I doubt there will be any card changes anymore anytime soon though.
Thought the world wide release would go hand in hand with the new expansion pack. Seems like it won't, heh. But I'm glad it's finally out.
