Hey guys, I need some new Headphones for my iPhone and iPod Touch. Basically, I go through 2-3 pairs a month.... It gets really annoying when your trying to listen to music or podcasts and all of a sudden one Earbud suddenly stops working.

So, rather than buying the plain white iPhone headphones, I think its time i invested in a decent pair that hopefully wont break as easy, and when they finally do... I can actually be bothered to take up manufactures warrenty up.

I've done a quick google search and all that I need is a pair of Headphones that come with a mic, so I can answer calls.

    A 3.5mm 4 poled jacked plug.

And this is the biggest problem that i've been finding... I cant stand in-ear canal headphones. Pic Below

I much prefer normal ear bud headphones or pads (DJ style).

Can anyone give me any recommendations or advice, I'm fed up of buying headphones. I just one decent pair that wont break every week.

Yeah all the time lol, it always seems to be the left earbud. But they mostly break at the connection between the jack and the wire. It comes loose and i have to fiddle with it for it to finally come out the left earbud, then i move and it cuts out again :(

EDIT: For example, one £10 pair broke in under 24 hours

Thanks, i'll check the website out.

What brand(s) of headphones were you buying? And are you just ripping them out of the headphone jack to unplug them or something? I'm finding it hard to comprehend 2-3 pairs a month and and a £10 pair breaking in under 24 hours if you're treating them with due care (my £15 back-up pair are still working 3+ years after purchase)

Sorry can't really recommend anything, I like in-ears style headphones. General advice would be to go with a brand you know, and ignore ascetics (unless you value looks over sound quality, in which case just go get some skullcandys)

I've just been getting knock off Apple replicers.

The pair that broke in 24 hours, didn't come out of my iphone at all. The guy in the shop said they were official iPhone headphones, I had a hunch they wasn't real but I was in dire need of headphones so was willing to cough up. They then were broke this morning :(

I do treat them with care, hardly ever pull them out of my iPod / iPhone. All I can think of, is I have the iPhone in my back pocket and maybe if I sat on them it might twist the wire in an awkward way and break it.

I really don't know, but I've just put it down to cheap headphones.

I've never really had a problem with apple headphones. But to me, the sound quality isnt very good, comparable to other in-ear headphones at the same price, or lower.
For a while, I stuck to the apple headphones, but I recently bought a pair of Skullcandy Inkd. They are almost half the price (17 bucks, compared to 30 dollar apple) and sound incredibly good, especially the bass. Even after putting them through the washing machine, they still sound decent.
I realize you dont like the in-ear canal, but I still recommend them highly.
Good luck with your search :)

I have the same, but they sadly don't fit my ears very well, so I had to go back to the apple ones. :(

    Really?
Mine came with three different size inserts to attach. I had to switch them to the smaller size.

I've been going through headphones for years, I've been using the Gummy headphones by JVC (under $10 at Wal-Mart) and those (although not the best quality) have lasted two and a half months and fit nicely in my ears.

Don't buy earphones for $10. They're cheap for a reason.

What's so bad about ear canals though? I find the biggest advantage is that you can keep that volume at 50-75% of what you'd have it at for other types of earbuds and get the same effect.

I comes down to personal preference, I've tried a few pairs of ear canals and it just feels like im walking around with my fingers in my ears. I have quite small ears and it just doesn't feel comfortable for me.
