The only app from chillingo that didn't turn freemium: Flick Champions What separates this game from the rest of chillingos apps?
I'm not sure why people got hyped over this to begin with due to the IAP. It looked freemium with a price tag from the get go. It seems easy to avoid most of this stuff when it launches.
The Gods hasn't turned freemium yet... But it hasn't been out a month I think. That is my last hope for Chillingo out of the games I bought. Chillingo is just a publisher, so the developer himself has the option not to convert to freemium. I'm sure there is a lot of pressure to go freemium though, and you may not ever work with Chillingo or EA again if you don't, but many developers that worked with some publishers have posted here that they did feel pressure by Chillingo to go freemium. But the developer has the final call, if he doesn't want to code it, I don't think Chillingo or EA will reverse engineer the code to retrofit it back in. So I am sure the developer does have the ultimate say, not Chillingo. And some games ultimately maybe close to impossible to add inapps and make it freemium. Just knock on wood with Flick Champions, you may have just cursed it.
Has any early adopter yet upgraded to the new version? I am afraid to with my last experience with catch the ark losing all coins, consumable inapps, and boats cause the data was corrupted when they made it freemium. Can anyone take a close look at the new inapps, and tell us if there is now a paywall or ads or things like that? Thanks.
"Various bug fixes and tweaks"...that's the bull---- line that would be describing the negative changes, if APPLE EVER REQUIRED DISCLOSURE! By the power of...me? Screw Chillingo. . Oh, there is an old game that has never gone freemium, and has been published by Chillingo for quite a while now - The Quest and The Quest Gold.
I played through the first level. No ads were seen. In the store these are the only IAP's for crystals... Orko Pack - $0.99 Colossal Pack - $2.99 Eternian Pack - $5.99 Master Pack - $9.99 EDIT: Nothing nefarious thus far.
IAH, it's not too bad. There are a few "cash only" items that I'm not sure about, and a means to purchase gems, but the gameplay balance seems fine. Played the first level a couple times to confirm, and grinding is possible, so there's that. No ads that I saw, bearing in mind I put 10 minutes into it. I did go through most if not all of the various UI "nooks and crannies," so I should have seen them if they were there. Looks safe! DBC
Just looking at your currently playing list, I reinstalled Dungelot and it seems like the gold drops have been reduced to nearly nothing while the in-dungeon store prices have skyrocketed.
I didn't think of that. I posted the IAP above but here are some store item prices to compare to past versions. These are all from the current version: Weapons: Tornado Spin - 15,000 Arial Smash - 15,000 Thunder Punch - 10,000 Axe Throw - 20,000 Power Slice - 10,000 Hearts: Wall Crusher - 5,000 Pulse Cannon - 10,000 Power of Grayskull - 75,000 Strength of Eternia - 20,000 oooh... more iap that I missed... Lore Finder - $1.99 USD Gem Doubler - $1.99 USD ... Tokens: Power of Greyskull Token - 2,500 Summon Tokens - 1,000 Gift App - ----- (no price listed just -'s probably since it's free)
OT, but Dungelot seems pointless now. You get like 1 gold per level, a sword (in the dungeoun) cost over 100 gold now...crap, can never update, must always keep everything installed, have to track version numbers...:sigh:
I personally wouldn't hesitate. It's still He-Man, it's mindlessly fun, and the balance doesn't seem overly horrible... DBC
