Yes, straight into the tv. You should see no visible by eye delay whatsoever. In my screenshots though, there appears to be a millisecond delay on fast motion games, but in real life, I can't see it even if I look hard. It looks instantaneous, you should not notice any delay. Try connecting directly in the tv and let us know.
I just disconnect something directly connected to my TV and use that hdmi cable. Works great. Any device you put in between is going to have a high probability of adding lag. There's already a very tiny amount of lag just by going over hdmi, no reason to multiply this. Also, it could be the tv itself. This wouldn't be as noticeable in non-interactive entertainment. .... To the dude trolling the thread, please don't continue to put us down for using our iOS devices as consoles on a site dedicated to iOS gaming or I'll have to report you for trolling. I've been gaming for over 30 years... since Pong was the home console of choice. I know what other systems offer. I even freelanced for IGN for a small stint covering retro Nintendo games. Heck I was one of the first people to install a frontlight into my GBA. I know what great gameplay is. iOS these days is where it's at for innovative game design and just pure fun games for ME. Consoles have a certain appeal, no doubt. Current handhelds like the Vita have such a weak software library that I can't even take them seriously. Last gen the DS & PSP was leaps and bounds better than the stuff offered today on handhelds. Those systems have barely any releases except during the holiday season. ... Played some Flashout 3D this morning on my computer monitor. Not sure what was wrong but it started out with the colors washed out... blues were purple. But then, middle of the first race, it reset the signal and it looked color correct after that. Gameplay, with the default settings, was... um... well.... not good, but it was nice to see what was what. Hopefully the update and changing the settings will make the game seem fun. As it is, I'm probably going back this up to my pc and remove it in the next couple days. Played some Ducatti Challenge as well. That actually is like Asphalt 6 where the monitor shows the action and the system becomes a controller. Good stuff. That is a pretty nice racing sim. Also gave one of Jujubee's other games, Suspect The Run a try. That looked nice and sharp over hdmi and was decent to play despite being a portrait game. I LOVE that art style too. Not sure I'll keep it very long. I enjoyed what I played of Suspect in Sight and they made Flashout 3D, so I figured I'd get it since it's freemium. Overall, It's a pretty decent lane changing runner full of police chases and stuff. Sorry about the lack of pictures. I didn't finish the download for Flashout 3D till this morning so I can't do anything about that till I get home. The graphics in that game though aren't the best ever. Even on the small screen I can see the edges of stuff as being shiny where it's not doing whatever smoothing effect it should to make the edges look nice. This is amplified on the big screen though not as obvious when in a race.
Wowzers, you got me jealous! My hdtv is smaller than 40 inches, wondered what it would look like on a true big screen. Do you notice pixellation from the increased size? I always wondered what hdmi would look like huge. I like how it is wall mounted, that is nice. Anyone have a bigger tv? I am jealous though. Airplay hdmi tv games are great even though a lot of them are only 720p. So often hdmi mirroring mode looks better. I use the term airplay hdmi to mean games that are fullscreen tv games, often it use my ipad as a joystick with a separate image as shown in the attached screenshot from Nova 3. Also, you can see my Gameloft Duo Gamer Joystick which is awesome and bluetooth. Full console this way. Great fun. Also try Pilot's Path, it is one of the few 1080p airplay hdmi games, and it is very pretty and can use a joypad like app so you can use your iphone as a bluetooth joystick. Welcome to the HDMI Loverz Club! Post some more pictures especially of mirrored mode if you get a chance. Thanks!
Flashout 3d not stretched with borders, the stretched version is on a previous page. Note the reduced size, but better aspect ratio.

I just disconnect something directly connected to my TV and use that hdmi cable. Works great. Any device you put in between is going to have a high probability of adding lag. There's already a very tiny amount of lag just by going over hdmi, no reason to multiply this. ------- Night, I think I may have figured out the lag issue, at least in theory, as you know my tv has 5 zoom modes, I often use stretch to fit mode, but it suffers the worst aspect ratios. Playing RR3, I have often been using stretch and zoom 4x mode, cause I can't figure out which is better for me. But one thing I noticed is that in stretch mode, there seems to be a very very slight delay, zoom 4x mode seems to be instantaneous. So this got me to thinking, maybe the tv has to work harder to stretch than to zoom. This would make a lot of sense, cause it makes sense. So maybe this delay that we talked about earlier is the tv trying to stretch the image, when I use modes that use correct aspect ratios, I don't notice it at all. But I can't confirm this till I take a lot of screen captures, cause you can't notice it at all while looking. Only a camera would be able to notice this. If you have a stretch mode night, maybe you can try afterburner and post some screenshots with both the iphone and tv to see if there is actually delay or not. Unfortunately you iphone is so small, it may be impossible to see, but if you could post 2 pictures of stretch mode and regular mode, it would be cool. If I have time tomorrow, I will test out my theory, makes this science of hdmi more interesting, actually makes me believe that my BS in electrical engineering is worth anything. Here is an attached screenshot using stretch mode which has the slight delay, will post my results later on this soon. Will be interesting to see the results of this wacky science experiment. Can't see the delay by eye though like how it is so obvious on apple tv, but these screenshots are interesting. Anyway, spunk and moxie plays really well on hdmi tv and is a good game for the week now reduced to a buck, gonna buy gods rebellion which looks like it might be a great hdmi tv game if the controls work for hdmi. It just wasn't that fun of a game. So no pics there. My main tv (42") doesn't offer stretch modes over HDMI, just 2x and so on. Certainly all the lag shown could simply be TV related and it does make sense that the stretch or other modes would vary the amount of lag. For the moment though I gotta put a pause on further HDMI exploration as I'm working on write up for a planned new thread covering a specific genre. It probably won't be hugely popular but there's a hole and I feel qualified enough to cover it. Once that's done I can dump around a dozen more games from my phone and free up more space. But anyway it's eating a lot of my game time.
