Have you read my article dedicated entirely to overscan? iOS always uses overscan over HDMI (unlike over VGA), except for some rare cases of connecting iDevices to some external monitor models via DVI. That is, you must test the DVI input on your monitor to see whether your monitor is one of the lucky ones.
Went back and read it. Epic. Okey dokie. Mine isn't. Apparently the old VGA adapters work a treat tho. Might go down that route. I'm currently JB'd but I'd rather find a different workaround as I'll upgrade to ios 7 at launch. Thanks for your help
If you do have the 30-pin VGA adapter, it'll work OK with the iPad 2 (but not with the iPad 3) even in games.
What do you think about this article Lightening Fast Digital AV Adaptor Surprise link: http://www.panic.com/blog/2013/03/the-lightning-digital-av-adapter-surprise/ I recently purchased an Ipad and I am wondering about the adaptor to broadcast what's on my Ipad to an HD TV. Do any of you know which adaptor actually works? Thanks
Connector (the creator of this thread) knows the solution. Either you can wait for. his timeout to be over (about 2 weeks) or you can PM me for his current forum.
We've already talked about this article earlier in this thread. It's a weird thing for Apple to do and it reduces quality... Anyway you'll need a lightning to hdmi connector that you can find pretty much everywhere online including Apple's own Store. Example: http://store.apple.com/us/product/MD826ZM/A/lightning-digital-av-adapter

Awesome news from the sine mora thread!!! Wow, oh wow! I'm sorry for having been an icade pest, but man, this news really made my day. I was kinda expecting for me to get flamed by the vstick touch fans saying no, vstick is better than icade (j/k), but I didn't and icade got a lot of support here. But most important, once all us icaders fall in love with physical joystick controls, you will be the first dev in line for sine mora with the apple joystick, and you will get alot of sales at that time. And some more when the icade update comes out. Make sure to check the hdmi thread, there is alot of info I put there on icade, I will think hard about the best button placements and the such and post them here to promote discussion. Thank you dev for considering of icade, and really, it makes all of us proud here (especially the icade loverz group, hi all!) for you to have taken our feedback, and used it to make your game even better. Thank you on behalf of the icade community. ------- Some initial screenshots from an ipad 3:
Some ipad 3 boss screenshots: Wow, this is going to rock with icade core joystick controls. Will be back soon with some HDMI and icade reports for this game, cause they are very interesting!!!
Sine Mora HDMI and iCade Report! Well, first good news on the iCade front, we got icade to be put into Sine Mora!!! Woo hoo!!! Expect it in a future update. Now, this is a game that you have to play on HDMI. Not only does it have some of the smoothest boss animations on ios, but since the screen only displays on about 1/2 the screen on an ipad, HDMI is where it is at! As you can see in my screenshots, there is a HUGE difference in screen space on the TV vs my ipad 3. So much so, that it is shocking. Now, with icade support and HDMI, well, this game will totally rock. If you notice here, I am using the most zoomed in version of my TV zoom capability. With that, it uses about 3/4 of my TV screen without losing anything, and keeping the correct aspect ratios. Also, if you have an ipad 3, turn off screen shake, for pretty good framerates playing on TV. And crank the sound up real loud cause with this setup, it plays really well. Highly recommend trying out HDMI and icade on Sine Mora. This will be the new standard in ipad games in the future, full console support. Awesome TV support for games like this which use borders, and awesome joystick support which the developer states, he will add in Apple joystick support in the future. Coolness.
Sine Mora icade implementation is done, will be put out in next update probably. Apple wireless joystick support is being looked into. Sorry, got no clue, hope you can find one there. I was trying to get one for Exact-Pscience in the Phillipines with no luck finding a cheap one. Wonder if EP got one.
Runbot HDMI Report This game looks so pretty on HDMI, the 3D effects really stand out, and make the game look really pretty. I really like this game, and it is really fun to play on TV cause it feels like an arcade game. Really nice looking.
I did have an HDMI cable but i sent it back as i wanted it all to be wireless, so i use Apple TV to mirror the image. Despite having super fast internet speed there is a slight delay which ruins so many games, even Pinball Arcade i just cant play properly if i stare at the TV. 'Might' go back to the HDMI option just i dont like having to have a cable from my ipad to the TV etc. Like wireless things !
Lag anymore? Is there any lag when gaming with iPhone or iPad connected to TV via HDMI? When I tried last time, I played several games with my iPad 2 (with 30-pin connector though) and lag was pretty sick.
