I've noticed that some apps release with several versions - some of them, which are considerably more expensive, seem to only come with extra cred or upgrade "points". Does this marketing strategy really get the developer more sales? Do any of you ever buy the $19.99 version of these types of games?!!
They make me nauseous SINCE IT IS SO CLEAR the whole model is based on bilking you for all they can. If anything interesting is added it will clearly require more REAL MONEY to get as opposed to a free upgrade. If that weren't enough these games seem to be all about referrals and getting others to join your clan/guild/mob. So there may not be a whole lot of a GAME to this game but if you spend enough money and recruit enough people you MIGHT become somebody in this silly imaginary world (or at least until the developers start up on their next parallel MMO game you'll need to buy into and recruit all over again).
It reminds me of the folk who need the cheat codes for a game before they even play it OR actually pay real money over eBay and the like to get tricked out gear for their EQ/WOW characters.
12 people rated iMafia 800 points $99.99 http://itunes.apple.com/WebObjects/MZStore.woa/wa/viewSoftware?id=307990447&mt=8 Must be working because over 37,000 rated the free version of iMafia.
those apps are so dumb, its not worth spending money for more cash...just use the 20 and buy a real app/apps
yeah i have no idea who buys that crap. I enjoy the free iMob online, but free is about how far I'm willing to go with the whole mafia thing.
I'm guessing people who are trying to pass off as cool to their other erm.. friends who play this type of games would do this? You'd only need to pull in a few suckers to make a very quick profit. Afterall, it is almost no work at all to put up such an "app" as Get 10,000 points for $99.99.
