LOL i definitely don't agree with shockingly bad, but i know exactly what you mean. The fine tuning is missing, i.e. always keeping the thumb on screen, little stick movement can easily result in a bit of a whacky uncontroled direction he's taking. The longer the better i get used to let go the stick while shooting (depending on the situation), just to give him a new exact input when i need to run or dodge some more foes. Just when i thought, what a bad release week I had, these two pearls come out of nowhere. Having tons of fun.
@Crabman Considering I love the Halo universe and am very much a twin stick shooter kind of guy, I still wonder why I didnt enjoy it. It was an insta-buy when I saw it (quite a while after it was released as I had tons of stuff going on) and I just found myself becoming bored half way through the first level. I have a suspicion that was more me than the game, if I'm honest. Hard to say. I just found it repetitive and it didn't do a lot for me. I was disappointed. That's why I thought it would be perfect for mobile. So I was a wee bit frustrated about that movement control. I'll persevere though as I don't like to give up too easily! I just wanted to see if it was just me or not and I see a couple of other comments referring to it, but it not being a game-breaker for them. Sorry - long reply...
I'm actually not that impressed with either one, to be honest. I find the left thumb stick(walking) to be rather twitchy and the gameplay feels rather generic. Everything is so so small looking as if the "eye in the sky" which gives you the player your view is panned out very far. I thought these two were going to suck me in instantly but I find myself having to force myself to play. Either way I'll pay the 10.00 fee just to support games that don't have timers, wait periods, 6 different currencies...
Haha, thanks Qwertz I possibly overstated it, but have really struggled to get any sort of precision. As per my reply to Crabman I'll certainly be persevering with it for now and hope I can adjust. Just about to start playing on my iPad instead, so maybe that'll make all the difference. Cheers!
Awesome!!! I freaking love halo! Played this on the xb1, but it felt like a mobile game so i never completed it. Definitely will finish it up on my phone
I don't have problems with movement at all. The character is a bit too sensitive but it doesn't stop me from playing well. My only issue is the clash with the melee and grenade. Melee has a small delay afte one tap and grenades you have to tap twice. It can get frustrating to melee enemies and accidentally toss grenades. They should have just put a melee button next to the pick up button. Nonetheless, it's still an amazing game. I do wish they zoomed in on the screen because it looks like it's view is made for tablets.
I think you may have more accurate thumbs than me! I'm going back to it as the overwhelming feeling is that the movement is manageable but a little frustrating, so I'll report back once I've spent some more time with it. Thanks L!
I am playing it on an iPad/ So nothing is small looking for me. That's one reason why I never like playing on phones.I quit doing that for a long time already which is why I moved to tablet for any or most mobile games. While my phone remains as a phone for texting and calls with some light surfing and some other stuffs. Then again this is individual choice with no right or wrong here. There are definitely some games that work fine on phones. But personally I always feel regardless of the case it's always more enjoyable on a tablet due to the bigger screen especially when touch control in most cases usually make you cover at least 1/4 - 1/3 of the screen because of your thumb. For those that have issue with the left stick (movement), my tip is try to reduce your thumb movements. You actually only need to move a little to move your character around. It takes a bit of getting used to but that's how it is. At first I thought it was twitchy too but after awhile i notice its not and i have completely no issue going thru a couple of missions with it while playing on touch. Also as for comment about generic, it depends on how you look at it, i think all twin stick shooters are the same with just a different skin on them. So if that's the same everything are generic. But this game does have a variety of different types of missions and encounters where you can even use vehicles or turrets and etcs or even fighting against enemies that are on them, doing escort and more. It's not as repetitive as some thought it would be. Just my 2 cent/
agree with you on the grenade and melee thing while on touch. which is why i said that this is completely eliminated with MFi controller because you actually have a proper melee button as well as you can actually aim before you throw your grenade with another dedicated button. end of the day physical control is still a better gaming control option over touch in such games regardless how well a control is being implemented. Just like in Space Marshall I still prefer it on MFi despite the touch control is pretty well implemented.
thanks for your impressions.I'll get it nonetheless since i love the halo universe as well and it sure looks great I also have an iPad and a controller so this should give me an almost console style experience.
Bought both, because I absolutely LOVE the premium love... Presentation is beyond the pale, folks! It's bananas good. Especially that Halo soundtrack awesomeness. For those having difficulty maneuvering the little guys/gals, remember to pick your thumb off after every assault, if you can. It's not really a hassle at all. For me, anyway. I say BUY BUY BUY!
If you read earlier post I have already said there's full MFi support and it works extremely well just like any console twin stick shooters. Besides how can physical control be twitchy?
This game is an absolute MUST HAVE. It is hands down the best game on the Windows App Store, those who have never played it are in for a treat! And the fact that we got the sequel too is just awesome. Buy the bundle, you will not regret it!
