Can you post the site that said that? I'm pretty sure that Bungie owns the rights, however if i'm wrong please show me the site, thanks :)

It was all over the web when Bungie broke off connections with Microsoft. Halo is officially a Microsoft product, just google it. I'm on the iPhone, so don't really care to search for it on this tiny screen, but there's a lot of articles on it...Bungie has absolutely no rights to Halo.

Well thats too bad, however MS DID port Halo over to Mac, and apparently Bungie is still going to work closely with MS to update Reach and all that. Its still something to think about.

Yep, like he said. It's all over the net, just google it.

    Here's some info on Wikipedia:

Most folks know that Microsoft bought the rights from Bungie awhile ago.

I guess you're right :( but that doesnt mean that Bungie won't put something on the iPhone. Maybe i'm just getting my hopes up lol

I don't see why people even hope that halo will come to the idevice. Think realistically, would it ACTUALLY happen? No.

If not the iPhone I would hope at least the PSP, or whatever handheld device MS is coming out with (if ever).

First of all, Halo is Exclusive to the Xbox 360, and PC. Now tell me why the **** would Microsoft go out of there way to put the game on an APPLE device?

Well they already did put Halo on the Mac, and MS and APPL seem to be less hostile since they're kind of ganging up on Google (lol)

that put older halo's on the Mac, a LONG time after almost everyone owned the game and didnt need it for Mac, it was kinda like porting The Orange Box to ps3, it was nice, but it wasnt the same.

and as for a mobile device, i believe they would do it on either the zune, or the Windows mobile 7 or whatever its called

EDIT: Haha, here I thought I was looking at the last post and replying to it when I wasn't. My mistake.

Anywho... No. Just no. There are some games that simply should never and cannot be ported over to a mobile device.

Pretty sure it's Doom with a new skin. The work needed to port Halo 3 to a mobile device, oh my god. Just getting the information off the disc and into the Microsoft SDK would be a chore. Scaling down the models, environments, controls... ugh.

Hell, putting Halo 1 on the idevice would be a pain in the a**, much less halo 3.

I believe that the Mac edition had 2 new weapons and a new vehicle, but I guess were going a little off topic now. Anyway if Halo came to the Zune I might entertain the idea of buying it.

But the ZuneHD is not capable of the gaming power of the iDevice.

Not quite true. The Tegra processor should be at least as capable as 2nd "gen" iPod touch devices. Not sure about the 3Gs based devices though (iPhone 3Gs and 32/64GB 3rd gen iPod touch devices).

That said, Halo is owned by MS. And Bungie didn't completely sever ties with MS as MS still owns a minority stake in the company. They may in fact have first look rights on everything Bungie does, and/or first purchase rights should the principles at Bungie choose to sell the studio.

So, Halo on iPhone/touch? Not likely. Then again, MS did allow for Rare, whom they own outright, to make GBA and DS games...but then again, MS didn't and doesn't have a portable game system on market. They do, however, have a mobile platform on market in the form of a pmp and the future Windows Mobile 7 platform. I'm guessing MS will push a dedicated hardware spec for WM7 phones and possibly use it for future Zune products, ala Apple with iPhone/touch, but in MS' case they won't be the only ones to manufacture the devices.
