I never take ANY reviewers word as bond! But anytime I watched Appspy I felt they were OVER rating games, ones I found to be boring or uninteresting. Which is why I thought it unusual that they slammed this one so harshly. Looking at it, it doesn't grab me anyway. Though I actually like the song "Hail to the king" -
I'll give this a shot and leave some impressions. I'm not a big fan of A7X, but I am a huge fan of hack&slash/adventure games.
Just in case no one noticed, there's a 4/5 front-page review out there for this lovely game. Hopefully that'll sway a few people to take a chance with it.
Lol, exactly. I'm surprised so many people are hesitant about buying it. I guess maybe the 4.99 price tag? Either way. It just finished downloading. I'm about to fire it up.
My biggest issue is to free up a gig of space not the price ! Its like giving away one of your children when you think 'what app(s) shall i de-install'. Heartbreaking decision !
I hope that's not the case, seems strange that a couple more dollars in the asking price would invoke this level of laser-focused scrutiny. One of the nice things about playing games like this before they come out is the price tag is totally out of the equation. You just play the game and review it as it's presented with any of that weird iOS emotional baggage of whether or not something is "worth" whatever non-free price point the developers had the audacity to set.
Amen. Had my impressions been the same knowing this cost $4.99? Well, let's just say that I bought M. Shadows as a thank you back then...and literally purchased this on Android for $4.99 a couple of hours ago.
They didn't review it yet. I think he means that rubbish hands-on. "OH LOOK, HERE'S A BAND MEMBER! NEEEEEEEEWP~!"
I wonder, why some "quality" awesome graphical games by gameloft, chillingo and etc getting bashed and bashed just because they are free and filled with in-game advertisements. And graphic poor but full game like this get protected by some people just because it's advertisement free and u pay a 1 time fee. When a game is poor in quality, it's poor in quality. I don't care it's advertisement free or I just pay a 1 time fee. I believe what deter gamers to buy this is not the pricing, it's the quality. I don't mind throwing 10 bucks on Orc Vegenance if needed for example.
Ok, here's my quick little 2 cents. First off, I'm not a fan of A7X. I'm more of an "Emocore" guy I guess you could say. I couldn't even tell you one song by A7X, so I went into this game completely unbiased. I AM a fan of games though. Wether they be hack & slash, puzzlers, city builders, hardcore, casual, ect. I like em all. I only played up to the first big boss. (The boss after Big Mama.), but in the short time I had with the game, it was really fun! Yea, it's not pretty like Infinity Blade or Modern Combat, but I don't think it's supposed to be. It made me feel like I was back in my parents basement playing Soul Reaver or Deathtrap Dungeon. I actually dug the graphics. The story is ok. It drug on a little in the beginning, but that was mostly because I was impatient and wanted to see what the gameplay was like. The controls work well for the game. I never had any issues with moving my guy or missed button inputs. The combat is pretty basic so far. Like I said, I'm pretty early into the game, but you have your attack button and your magic button. I was having a little trouble getting hit when I was trying to slash gremlins. I don't know if I was just getting too close to them or not. The music fit the setting. I read earlier that no music played when you were fighting a boss. That comment isn't true. As soon as I went up against the first boss, that's when the music got heavier. All in all, I think this is actually a really good game! It's not meant to break any new ground. It's a homage to classic hack & slash games. If you enjoyed playing games like Soul Reaver back in the day or even games like Darkstalkers, you will probably enjoy this one. I'll leave a little more detailed review after I finish the game, but I feel TA's review is spot on so far.
I couldn't give two shits about graphics. If you think this game is poor in quality, then so be it...but I think the opposite. Different strokes for different folks. Also, Orc Vengeance was rubbish. See how that works?
Everything AppSpy said seem pretty fair to me. Even Eternity Warrior II looks way better than this game.
It's odd how everyone seems to be fixated on that AppSpy video whereas no one's bothered to mention the TA review. I feel like an idiot for linking that video now. Hasn't anyone figured out they haven't even gotten past the first 15 minutes of the game in (and prior to) that video?
It's because anger is the most powerful emotion on the internet. It's easier to be like "MAN #### THAT!!!" and get people behind you than have an intelligent discussion on something. Sad but true, and only getting worse as people get more and more reactionary.

Loving this game so far. Love the graphics and the music. Only thing I hate about hack n slashes like this is the lack of a "strafe" button. See the combat could be a little better. When trying to fight minions you have to slash once or twice then move back so the enemies can't hurt you. I've been dying a few times cause I would think after just hacking away at a little gremlin it wouldn't come any closer. But they still move in on you even when you are hitting them. Other then that it's a pretty good game. Love the bosses so far. The dungeons are a little bit like Zelda. (Big locks on doors) fix the combat devs and this can be a 4.5/5
But still, James was saying it like he personally didn't like it. Although that is the point of the hands-on video but he was very picky and spotted out the tiniest negative thing. He sounded like he never wanted to play the game but for youtube's sake he did. At least he can do much, much more better in the actual review, and I hope he does.
As usual Metalcasket is dead on. Swordigo is perfect argument. Classic game, less than great graphically. Appspy seems to be getting much more attention than normal by ripping this apart. Can't remember a time they got this much mention & attention. Hmmmm
really hate this combat the more and more I play. I almost always use all my mana so I can kill enemies from afar. It's getting ridiculous to get hit by these little imps n crap. Slash run backwards/slash run backwards etc etc. -.-
