Had my iPhone 4 for over a month and a half now and thoughts on it...

I think it's the best smart mobile out there right now to put it shortly.

It's like World of Warcraft, there may be better hardware or other mobiles with more customization and more innovative. However the iPhone just has the best all round package and the main thing it wins over is iTunes which leads to having lots of fun apps and a handful of good games. The software support is just something you don't get on any other mobile. I also have a HTC HD2 because I thought I'd be running emulators and doing all kinds of crazy stuff I couldn't do on the iPhone 4. However it turns out the emulators run badly and I just can't be bothered to watch movies and that on a mobile, when I can just do that at home. Flash is something I really miss but using it on a Mobile, I worked out that it is horrible and lags everything.

I just think the iPhone 4 lacks nothing right now compared to the competition.

My only gripes really are you can't customize your text alerts to add your own. You can't have more than 12 apps per folder. There is no flash, even though it isn't very good on mobile, I still wish I could have it on alternative browsers I download. I hate how Safari has the bars at the top and bottom, I want to see more of the page, instead they cover lots up. Youtube for iPhone has a crap search function.

One thing I wish Apple did allow back on the iPhone 4 is Chat Roulette. I've used Face Time once, when I got the mobile and never used it again. Turns out not many of my friends have an iPhone 4 and when you call someone you don't wanna be on cam. It's the sorta thing that is a gimmick and Chat Roulette is perfect for that.

I've never had any signal problems, I really don't understand what all the fuss was about with that. Never have I had signal loss due to the way I hold it. I just think it was one person that started it all off and people wanted to jump on the hate band wagon.

On the same note the Retina display wasn't worth the hype. It's the best screen I've used on a mobile, I just think it's way too small. I really wish Apple did two different sizes, the HTC HD2 has the perfect screen size and I wish the iPhone had that size screen. I mean you can still see the pixels on the screen, infact I have a dead pixel on mine and it makes me notice them all the more. I changed it for a new mobile but that had one too and they wouldn't change it again. I went through the same process with my old 3GS.... Maybe I just look for them too hard, I just hate LCDs.

    The best apps:

    LogMeIn
    Bebot
    Tilt to Live
    Uno
    Angry Birds
    Worms
    PlunderLand
    FS5 Hockey
    The Incident
    Football

I personally really love LogMeIn (even though of the price) cause I can log into my PC and do everything on there ready for when I get home. The only thing it lacks is sound, not sure if that's a limitation of the hardware or they are planning it for the future.

I used to be a real snob about my mobiles and didn't like the iPhone because of how restrictive it was. However I realised that really you use the mobile for a few mins at a time, never watch movies, rarely listen to music and browse the web on the odd occasion . I use it really as a jack of all trades, just dabble quickly into what I like and then I go home and do what I really like in more depth on my PC. So looking at it that way, there isn't a better mobile than the iPhone 4.

Though I am excited for what Windows Phone 7 can do. As a Windows user myself, I would drop the iPhone in a heart beat if it's good. I just wish'd Microsoft had the one phone a year design, I'm sick of the hardware companies bringing out something new every month lol.

I'd say the iPhone 4 does everything well enough, it's just not a master at anything. Also one thing I noticed is people go "is that the new iPhone?" but they never get excited about any other mobile.

the only thing that'd make it better is Swype

or something similar since Apple would never put that on an iPhone

Some of your gripes can be fixed by jailbreaking. The screen size is a tad small, but not too small. The HTC HD2 is too big, it'd be nice to have something inbetween the two.
Also iPhone 4 is master at phone gaming.

I am pretty happy with mine also. my only wish is a HDMI out don't know if they can (or do) make a 30pin to HDMI that would be nice to watch downloaded and recorded video on tv and the dream of playing games using phone as controller on tv

Not that I know of, although it's quite possible that something like that could pop up on cydia one day.

I'm not sure about HDMI, but you can play iPhone games on the TV if you're jailbroken.

Theres a jailbreak app that allows you to have infinite amounts of apps in folders, I use that, and Comex is working on frash, pretty much android's flash ported to the iphone. From I hear though, its really crappy, so don't get the alpha version

Once they make Multiflow a native function I'll be happy.

How does LogMeIn work? You need to have your computer turned on at the time right? Also there must be lots of restrictions on what you can run and not run? You obviously can't simply go click a .exe in windows explorer and start playing something like Crysis on your iPhone, will it produce an error or simply only show what you can run?

How's the screen? Both me and my dads screens broke on our 3GS' and now I need to buy a new screen or just get a new phone.

The screen is great. Much sharper, easier to read text and better looking games.
Now I have my iPhone 4, it's painful to look at my old iPhone's screen.

What did it fall on? Also, is there any hard plastic cases for the iPhone 4?

There are plenty of different cases around, have a look. The phone is durable, mine is in great condition, but saying that, my cousin has scratches all over his glass panels and the metal is scuffed along the edges. I'm also noticing some difficult to remove dirt that has got between the glass and the metal bordering.

There's not going to be much of a difference in durability of the screens. They're all covered in glass, which is likely to crack if dropped screen-down.

I suggest you just buy an iPhone 4 and try to be more careful. I still have my original iPhone which I've owned for over 2 years now and the screen doesn't have a single scratch (and I never use screen protecters).
