I don't like this game. It's too fast-paced. Stuff happens and you have no idea it happened until it's way too late. The whole game feels like it's in fast-forward mode. You'll see enemies, they'll have thrown grenades, they'll hit you, blow up, and take away your health, all in a fraction of a second. Like SEEENEMIESTHROWGRENADEBOOMHEALTHDOWN before you have any chance to assess the situation, do things like dodge in time, jump maybe? Nope. This a game where don't really "feel" getting hit. You just rush through everything and when you touch stuff the meter goes down a bit until you die. It feels kind of like a speedrunning game where there are too many obstacles to actually be one. Thumbs down.
Is a hardcore shoot 'em up action arcade game, a metal slug reloaded feeling, love it just the hardcore way it is
^Come on fella its only a few dollars ! I'm enjoying this still, it is 'crazy' with how much is happening and can get frustrating sometimes. Part of me would like everything slowed down a lot, movement etc because it can be manic. Then again thats part of the charm to it, chaotic battles etc. For the price its worth it and i'm glad its more a story mode. But yeah as the character moves so quick its tempting to just keep running.
Bought the first one and thought the second one was going to be a no-brainer and an instabuy but then last night I saw the price increase (thanks to the translation),I decided to hold off against it because I only have £1.66 in store credit left.Sadly it'll be a long while till I top it up so I'll probably wait till then to buy.
I know what it is, and I love the Metal Slug series. This one just seems to cross the line of being fast-paced and manic to the point of feeling like how well you do and how much damage you take isn't 100% in the hands of the player for me.
I agree with much of the review, but would've scored it lower. Reviews and scores are entirely personal and subjective, after all.
Honestly I would've loved it to be even faster and more chaotic, coming from games like Nuclear Throne and Broforce.
Made it to world 3.1 (Jungle) in one sitting now and having a blast. If you play in a controlled manner and not just run around shooting frantically, you can reach far quite easily. Like GS1, you just have to be even more careful.

Professional reviews and scores are expected be more objective and thorough than the average consumer's opinion. That's why they are paid to do the job.
Hmmm...I think this is a pretty great little game. The controls are tight as can be and I don't have all that much trouble following what is going on. I think this is easily a 4 star game myself - maybe 4.5.
