It's easy to forget the OS-specific App Store exists, even though it gets major releases. The release of Pocket Planes on only OS X desktops in 2012 seemed to indicate a particular connection between iOS and OS X, but I can't think of any follow-up cases, and of course the app has since been removed due to "some unresolvable issues". In an ideal world, Apple would integrate the two OSs, as Google has Android and Chrome OS, but that seems unlikely.
