I seriously need help. Got the app, have no idea what to do. I picked Standard and I can strum a guitar on my iPhone. Can I finger chords?

First thing I noticed is the strings seem backwards from the sounds. The thicker strings have higher pitch than the thinner strings. And I have no idea how to finger chords on the app. I play a real guitar but am not understanding the app so far.
