Hey Saucepolicy, You make some good points. I was extremely harsh in updating my review on the App Store. I think for me, I had been frustrated lately with spending so much money on games that feel incomplete. I realize that this is the nature of the industry, in that many games are released which feel like they need several updates before the game feels fully fleshed out, resolving all the bugs and issues related to gameplay. Also, my use of the word "dodgy" was incorrect. What I wanted to convey was that I had asked the developer several times here if a zoom function was in the works or could be implemented and he never responded, which made it seem as if he didn't want to answer the question. You're correct, no developer has to come here and engage with us, and for the fact that some do, I should show a little more appreciation for those efforts. Gambrinous, I apologize for making those comments on the App Store. I made an emotional decision to react the way I did, and it was wrong. It's no excuse, but I was also experiencing some really tough issues in my life at the time I left that review and you were an easy target to release my frustrations. It wasn't right. Regardless, I know that those types of comments don't help anyone and I don't want to affect your livelihood because I realize that making games is what you love to do. In the future, I'll spend more time trying to address my concerns with the developers directly and not act like a child when I feel like my voice isn't being heard. This is the only forum online that I'm a part of and I thank all of you for letting me be a part of the discussions. I'm going to change my App Store review and leave a more thoughtful, level-headed opinion of the game. Thanks again for coming here to discuss your game, and thanks Saucepolicy for making me more aware of how my views can negatively affect others
Artificer is my first and only third tier but thus far but I have no desire to switch, so I definitely agree. The special artificer cards are amazing.
Thanks houseofg. I just updated my App Store review. Hopefully it won't take too long to repopulate. Appreciate it.
I second Houseofq! These days, thoughtful and sincere apologies seem to be few and far between. Davidovich, you really showed some class. I know it's none of my concern, but I had to express my admiration at your handling of this situation. It shows a maturity that it sadly lacking on the Internet, and increasingly, in society in general.
Thank you so much. I really appreciate all of you and I'm trying my best right now in my life to be a better person. I also appreciate being called out on my comments from the App Store here because it shows me that I still have a lot of growing to do. It's because of moments like these that I have the opportunity to prove to myself and others that I'm capable of change and that maybe if I change, I can affect change in others in a positive way. Thanks again.
Thanks for that, davidovich, very much appreciated. I know it can be frustrating at times trying to talk to people online, believe me. (It's even harder from the side of the developer, trying to prioritise what to fix or work on next, while trying to respond to everyone) I had noticed your review change yesterday and also assumed it was you given your mention of TA and the zoom feedback, but had decided not to bring it up (in my experience that usually just makes things worse). I looked back at your posts in this thread and I realised you've asked about zoom twice and I hadn't responded the first time. Sorry I missed it. I did answer you the last time you asked though. (Answer: we're looking into adding a way to zoom in, but haven't implemented anything yet) In more fun news, we should shortly have a date to share for Pirate's Cove being added (for free) to the game
Just want to say I agree with you on a lot of these. Particularly dungeon tile placement not being fun, that's a side of the game where we didn't quite fulfil the promise. I'm not sure we'll be able to address that without a huge overhaul, but definitely at the top of the list if we make a sequel.
God, I really want to love this game but there are sooo many bugs. The gameplay is innovative but it's SO annoying when I enter a dungeon and the character/perk I end up entering with are NOT the ones I selected. Instead of my beastly Cartomancer, it drops in my wimpy mime who of course gets shredded by the first enemy. Plus, I'm still getting bugs like this: I've had this bug since the first week and I've updated to the latest version every time it's come out. It's a damn shame these things aren't fixed yet.
I didn't think you could CHOOSE who gets the battlescars, don't they just go to whomever just cleared the dungeon?
Think they mean they select a character and a different one enters the dungeon. Never seen that myself (or that particular error on screen).
Hey Gambrinous. Thanks for your comments. I was reminded of some valuable life lessons the other day and I'm happy we can talk about it here. As far as the game is concerned, for me, I'm not getting the "an error occurred 1009" anymore after the latest update. Thank you for looking into that, although the problem still seems to exist for other users. The only concern for me is the zoom function as we discussed and I know you're looking into it# As far as other aspects of the game are concerned, I enjoy the tile placement. I always considered it to be something that added a deep layer of strategy for me. I like choosing which types to use so that I can level up in a certain area before deciding to connect the tiles and encounter a boss. I really hope you've had enough success to keep working on this game for a while longer, because I love playing it. I've died so many times, but I keep coming back for more. It's that unique. If I could make one last suggestion, I'd like to say that I think it'd be nice to have some sort of reference material in game so it could be very clear about which direction the dungeoneer will move and why. Keep up the hard work.#
Finally have it announced: Aug 30th! http://toucharcade.com/2016/08/16/guild-of-dungeoneering-pirates-cove-expansion/
I know it may already be answered, but just to confirmed: -I know there's a patch that supposed to fix the iPad mini crash, but the description says it does NOT work. Does it actually work on the iPad mini (1)? Because I was planning to buy it later on until I saw the description.
