Really loving this game! Already gave it my vote for Game of the Week. To the developer: Thanks for all your hard work and for interacting with us here on the forums. I just went and bought your other game, Tiny Defense, based on how much I like Guardian Sword. Guardian Sword's art and presentation aren't going to be the best you've ever seen, but if you can get past that, it adds some really fun, unique things to the match 3 RPG. And just when I think I've seen all it has to offer, it reveals a new mechanic, upgrade, skill, pet, etc. that gives it a new layer of strategy. Lots of depth here, as well as lots of content. I'm a few hours in, and haven't even covered half the map yet. One warning: You do need to be more patient and thoughtful than in many other match 3's. In some puzzle games, you can just match based on your whims, and if you make a few mistakes, it will still work out in the end. In Guardian Sword, you can die from just one or two foolish moves, so you need to plan out your moves carefully. Look at what your enemy is doing--as well as what their next move is--and be sure to consider all your options, including all your skills, items, and what your pet is going to do. (The "Change" skill that scrambles the board has saved my butt many times!) A few hours in, and I've only had a handful of fights where I felt like I got screwed over by the tile drop. Most of my losses have been when I just made a bad choice or took a chance that was unwise.
Which skills do i need 2 kill the black dog (boss) in the dark cave so i can get that coin? I always die ... Im level 22
Try skills: Spoiler power strike, sky drive, guard, change tiles: Spoiler poison, target, 3mana, 3sword teammate: Spoiler fairy
I got to say this game has one of the most OP final boss(?) ever. Up to before that point, I think the game is quite challenging, in the right way. But after I faced the paladin with guardian sword, I think it's an overkill. The difficulty spike is extreme, and probably required too much of grinding for my taste. But other than that(20hrs of play time before that point) this is a great match 3 RPGs game, well done to the dev. I still rated this game below super glyph quest, though.
Different strokes for different folk, I found Super Glyph Quest to be very limited in its spell combinations and abilities. I think Guardian Sword is a far better game. PS: That is not the final boss, not even close
Wow, so I presume that you beat him. Any tips? Because the only way I see is to spam spell and potion, while using golem to defense against earthquake. I beat so many boss with my (un)trusty evade skill, which won't work on this. I try Phoenix too, but no way I can survive 9999 earthquake. -__-
Nope, I'm still probably a few boss battles behind, however I peeked at the boss strategy guide way back and I remember the final boss being different. I would recommend checking out the boss strategy guide.
When the game first came out I complained about sound effects that sounded stolen, but it's obvious you guys actually honoured that and patched in new ones. Aside from a few grammar errors in the text, this is one of the best match-3s out there I think. It's paid but the IAP isn't really necessary since gear is still level-gated, so it just seems like a genuine need to get extra money to support the game which I'm okay with. Difficulty seems balanced assuming the player buys no IAP which is a good thing so far. Well-deserved 5* rating from me which I hope helps you guys out. Good amount of complexity in the enemies too, with giving them individual abilities and strengths. Most match-3 RPGs usually end up playing on auto-pilot but here you have to pay attention. It's not too puzzley and not too RPG-y, but a really good balance of both. Also, THANK YOU for adding iCloud. This is always something I really appreciate in any game. Does anyone know if there's a way to respec stats at some point?
Love, love, LOVE this. Best matcher since Dungeon Raid (!), and I'm including that short-lived vampire-themed one! Is there a chance for bonus attacking/defense points with longer matches like there was in Dungeon Raid? I found it extremely rewarding to have another reason to set up really long matches, and having it randomly decide whether to add the bonus (vs an absolute bonus per length match) made it more reinforcing to try it
There are items you get in the mid to late game that give you 25% bonus for matching more than 10 tiles.
It took me a while. Finally, I managed to take down Spoiler the real demon lord . And yeah! Those legendary tiles saved me too.
There kind of is. At first you have to overcome enemy defense, so you might have little damage, but then as you get over that... Also, in addition to the 5 bonus cards, there are two of the four legendary tiles...which multiply damage by 2x and 3x...and you can use them both in the same chain! I'm battling the enemies near the final boss...a lot of them...and I have to say they don't give much more exp or money then much easier monstersdark first, for example, should give much more than the dark elves a few maps before.
Thank you everyone for giving Guardian Sword a vote for Touch Arcade Forums' Game of the Week- July 23, 2015. It's great that our game received the highest number of votes. The vote result is here. http://forums.toucharcade.com/showthread.php?t=267066
