gotta say quite like the look of this ! tried various gtd apps cos i like the idea but i'm not anal enough to be bothered with the most whereas this looks like a usuable alternative. the dev is supposed to be helpful too ! gets a good review on 148apps too !
Thanks for the kind words about Put Things Off -- I built it to be a fun, simple alternative to existing to-do apps, many of which adhere to GTD-style principles quite religiously. There's nothing wrong with that, of course, but it's not for everybody. I'm listening to user feedback and feature requests and plan to make some improvements while keeping everything simple and easy to use. If you've got any requests, head over to http://spiffingapps.com and let me know. I reply to all email (eventually!).
I just bought it. But it is a little bit to simple for me. At least i need to be able to set a date and a note. Its a beutiful app though and i really hope for an update one day that ads more possibilitys to it if you need that, maby a swtch to turn on for advanced mode? Kind regards from Jesper in Sweden.
Thanks for supporting me by buying it. You can optionally set a due date with every new task -- just tap the '+ due date' beneath the note area. You can always put extra info into the main text area -- I even use it as a quick shopping list for a few items sometimes! I'll be adding some additional features in future, but am mostly focussing on polishing and adding extra preferences right now.
one of the things i would love with this but i dont think its allowed is if could be a start up app ie i unlock my phone and this is always on
I just cant regret that i bought this app, it is beutiful! And now i have only one more thing to wish for in your app before i can start to use it for real. I just have to be able to sort todos as "home" or "Work" and "Hobby". If you get that in i would acctually change to your App instead of "Things". Thanks for a great support.
i read some where that the dev was planning on adding that....but had put it off ! so i think that is a good chance that may happen. (honest not a joke) One thing i'd like would be somesort of export / whether email or csv or direct to a website but something along those lines
You're right -- there's nothing in the iPhone SDK that lets you do this. They might add background app support one day, though. Glad you like it! Thanks for the kind words. Tags are scheduled for a future release. (Probably not the next update, but maybe the one after that; no promises on timeline, but it's something I want to add.) The way I'll probably implement it is that you'll simply write @work or /mytagname as part of the task and it will become a link -- tap the link and all trays will be filtered by that tag, then just shake the phone to clear all filters. Export via email is on my list too. I want to add these things slowly and carefully with a lot of thought behind each new feature, rather than bunging loads of extra features in and ruining what's supposed to be a fairly simple app. Thanks again for the interest so far, all -- glad you're enjoying it.
Sounds like you got great ideas. Now it just hit me what would do it for me. Instead of tags you could just let us shoose the color of the todonote! That way it would be way easier to just scroll through a long list of todos and see what todos are for work or home. And i think that if you made the todonotes smaller but wider so you only have one per row it would make it easy for the eyes.
just a though but maybe add a save to wallpaper option ! others do this and it seems an easy way to see your things to do without having the app running in the background
Just press powerbutton and homebutton at the same time and you will get a screenpic that you can use as wallpaper.
yeah i know that but several have a save as wallpaper button......which thinking about it probably does the same
i'm not sure if the button automatically saves as wallpaper - so save you having to take photo, goto photos, find photo, choose save as wallpaper because when it does then it saves you 3 steps this app stick it does nothing else than the above http://www.148apps.com/reviews/stick/ which is why it would be good it put it off did it
Noop that app is just the same! it saves the picture to your photos and then you have to go through all those steps. If you read through to the bottom of your link, it says "Wishes. I wish there was a way for the app itself to export the picture to photos and select is as your wallpaper. That way I wouldn’t have to go through the extra steps. The extra steps don’t take long, but for the sake of speed it would be great if the app can do it. I don’t think this is possible with the current SDK, maybe after 3.0 comes out it’s a possibility." And that also explains why it is not possible YET to the Dev to implement that right now.
Im acctually is using this app instead of things and the other todo apps i own. I just fell in love with the simplicity even though it misses some stuff. The best part of Out thing off is the arrow that sends things to "putt off". it is so handy to just send a todo to put of and i dont have to worry about that untill it comes back.
yeah thats why i thought it looked interesting - the simplicity is what you need 99% of the time more than anything else. Still haven't got this yet but definately considering......
