For those who have no idea about what's going on: Because of a popular visual modification known as ICEnhancer, GTA:IV has been gathering a LOT of attention over the past few weeks in particular, only spurred by Steam's recent $9.99 GTA3 + EFLC sale. ICEnhancer is a tweaked version of ENBSeries, which basically enhances how various games look. The newest version of ICE was released a couple of days ago and many are already looking forward to the next release. Enough talk, down to the eye-candy: Taken by me at 1920x1080, downsampled to 1024x576: Taken by others: For those wondering how this looks in motion as opposed to static screenshots, I just took a video and uploaded it. Specs and what I installed are in the vid description. With this mod and over the course of its initial release on the PC, GTA:IV has gone from one of the most unattractive and badly optimized games to THE best-looking game presently available. Links to help you out, should you decide to re-install iCEnhancer 1.25 - ENB Graphic Mod Unofficial Video, has helpful directions in its description
With Black ops, MW2, and TF2, I will be instamtly buying this, as soon as I get my XPS 15. BTW: How well will this run with (Frames per second): 2nd generation Intel® Core™ i5-2410M processor 2.30 GHz with Turbo Boost 2.0 up to 2.90 GHz 6GB3 Dual Channel DDR3 SDRAM at 1333MHz 750GB SATA hard drive (7200RPM) NVIDIA® GeForce® GT 540M 2GB graphics with Optimus By the way, I might be getting a 1366x768 display, rather than a 1920x1080 display. Is it worth the money to upgrade the display? Also, which is better: NVIDIA® GeForce® GT 540M 2GB graphics with Optimus OR NVIDIA® GeForce® GT 525M 1GB graphics with Optimus?
Looking like it does in the above shots? Probably 50'ish FPS with high/very high settings on 1920x1080. I strongly suggest you add Just Cause 2 to your list of games to buy in the near future as well! If you like FPS games, Monday Night Combat and Killing Floor are fantastic alternatives to TFC and Left 4 Dead - both have pretty decent communities as well in terms of size.
What's more impressive is the fact that most of the above screenshots don't contain large, modded files full of higher-resolution textures. All tweaks were done through in-game tweaks and a few "helper files". Genius, I say; turning an old title into one with next-generation... speechless!
The first five screenshots were taken by me personally; I have no texture packs installed. The MOD itself, ICEnhancer, is less than a 3MB download (the modified version i'm using is, at least)! It does its magic by completely changing values for lights, shadows, intensity and so on, so forth. Takes a cartoonish look into an ultra-realistic one.
Now that is awesome It's times like this I wish I had a decent gaming pc I don't suppose this would run well on a MacBook Air 13 inch Edit: well quick Google shows I could, but I doubt it would run very well with those mods
I've had some bad issues with GTA IV in the past, Ex. major lag issues, crashes, errors, etc. Is there any FPS drops between this MOD and the previous graphics gta had, or any optimization to make it run better?
Those screenshots are amazing! I showed one to my friend and he thought it was just a real photo goofed with the GTA HUD
Now it's a super pretty game with kinda dull gameplay instead of a pretty game with kinda dull gameplay
Those who've played and finished the game have actually loved it, putting it in similar leagues with RDR storyline-wise. I must admit, it is pretty interesting. Missions are varied and fun, not your standard run-of-the-mill affair.
Out of the entire franchise GTA IV is the only one I didn't care for, also hated RDR. I prefer the wackiness, superior controls and mission structure of Saints Row to the direction Rockstar has chosen to go in. Just my opinion. /ducks
Haha. You're entitled to your opinion my friend, as different as it may be from the general consensus'. For those wondering how this looks in motion as opposed to static screenshots, I just took a video and uploaded it. Specs and what I installed are in the vid description.
Geez those shots look amazing, I think you just convinced me to buy it! I heard it was badly ported to the PC, so how are the controls like?
Agreed. Actually, I'd say many fans agree with you. I know a good amount of people, both irl and internet peeps, that have a similar view of GTA IV. Saints Row 3, thats where its at.
So I grabbed the mods and installed it, my com's kind of struggling to run it smoothly with high-med settings, max reso. Took me ages to download 15GBs on steam and another 4 when I messed up some game files modding it. Here's a comparison pic for you guys to see in full 1920X1080 reso, if they're too big I'll take em down. Before: After:
