I hope Apple doesn't make them take out the drug dealing minigame. I'd be pretty pissed... Then again, Rockstar might just take it out themselves so they can get a lower rating.
Rockstar are committed to not dumbing down content. They didn't on the DS, which is sometimes said as one of the reasons for the poor sales. A 17+ rating by apple should be sufficient.
Yup as I already stated, Rockstar is known for their controversial content, and if they have it on every other game, why not this one. Rockstar will fight to get this game out with all the content it has, because Rockstar is known for releasing there jampacked games. They wont let us down, I am sure of it.
I was more focused on the driving tbqh. In just about any 3D GTA game, including CTW, I usually stay in the cars as long as possible due to: 1. being able to shoot whilst driving (drive by) 2. being able to use the car as a weapon itself 3. using the car as a sort of extra armor (really helps when dealing with a group of enemies) But you're right...on foot in Payback was a bit problematic (although the turning wasn't as slow as you made it out to be, especially once you realize you can quick turn by very quickly tilting the device the direction you wish to face). I guess the on foot stuff can be handled via slider pad or virtual analog stick (same difference, really). Personally, I don't see why a directional wheel, ala Dropship, iDracula and even CJS (although the latter implements it in that "steering pad" method) wouldn't work as well or better. ... Y'know...actually...yeah. D-wheel would be a good fit for both the on foot controls AND the in vehicle controls. D-wheel on the left hand side, virtual buttons on the right, with, as you stated, swiping for grenades and such. ... And I just thought of a way accelerometer controls could possibly work for both in vehicle and on foot as well or possibly better than the Payback/Blue Skies method: Accelerometer as pedal and wheel while driving, as analog stick while moving, with virtual buttons for other actions. While in vehicle, tilting the device up would accelerate, tilting down brakes/reverses, and turning would well...turn. How fast you do these things depends on how far you tilt forward or backwards. On foot, same thing, only moving the device backwards or to either side turns the player/character around (pivots them the opposite direction). During this time you could tap the hotspot available to both methods for centering the camera to, well...center the camera behind the player/character. If the game screen tilts ala Fast and Furious or NFS, then the issue of "I can't see properly while tilting" would not be as much of an issue...if at all.
I think that buttons would work better for acceleration in the above scheme. The thilting forwards and back might make it quite hard to see the screen. I really hope that there is an option for no accelerometer controls if they are included though, as I play a lot of games on the bus / train and the movement plays havok with the accelerometer.
If apple's smart and really want to make their money, they need to leave the game 100% intact. Nothing would diminish my desire to buy this, than seeing that it's been censored and watered down.
Rockstar said somwhere that the same content that's on the psp will also be on the iphone only gfx won't be as good as the psp version. Anyway me nopt interested in this game.hate 2d versions
Damn. We didn't hear anything about it at the apple media event. I do hope we get some iPhone media soon though.
Are you going a bumpity bump now? Well, I might as well help. Here's some pics of the PSP's version. Ours is said to look similar. Although I think Rockstar might reprogram our version to give us a full screen for the mini games.
Well, I don't like these screenshots. View like in GTA 2 would be awesome! But this half 3D graphic and with those funny looking characters..
What did you think you were getting. This is chinatown wars. They arent going to write a whole new game for us but use the same name.....
I didn't said that I want whole new game. I just said that for me look from above like in GTA 2 would be better than this.
