I think the slide bar in Gangstar worked pretty darn good considering its a touch screen device.

You're right. I was pretty good, but it was still harder for me than tilting. I was mainly thinking about the CJS driving controls, but I think what messed those up was the unchangeable camera angle.

After thinking about it, I'm sure they could make a touch control for steering that people will enjoy, but I also hope for an added tilt option. What about the camera? I would still hate having to swipe to move my camera angle while I'm being chased by cops, or in any situation that's not perfectly safe.

oh for steering i wouldnt mind, but when your out of the car.... the carnage just isnt the same, i would want like a virtual analog, and a tap to aim control scheme, kind of like gangstar. tilt to turn detracts to me alot, i dunno what it is, i use them in gangstar, but imagine when your out of the car and your still tilting to turn, would that make the game fun... I know that their different angles, but i want to be able to strafe, because the cops on gta have way better ai than the cops in payback, i couldnt imagine having to tilt to left and hit back, then tilt right and hit forward just to make a Uturn with my character. Just to go into an alleyway i have to wait for my character to fully turn left, when if i had a virtual analog i can just push it left... I dunno about you, but why do you think they changed the controls on gta advanced and GTA CW, because the controls on GTA 1 and 2 werent as reactive ,so they gave us more reasonable controls, rather than turning with right and left, you now go in that direction. making for much more easier and responsive controls.

Those are some very valid points. I just realized that when you're in a car in GTA CW, you can fire out the window in a 360* axis. I'm thinking they'd have to use tilt to steer a car since I don't have enough thumbs for accelerating, steering, and shooing (although I guess it would be more realistic to have to take my thumb off the wheel to shoot a gun).

I agree that tilt to turn outside of a car is a bit odd. Maybe Minigore type controls would work (You know, analogue left for running and right for aiming). But there is still the camera issue. I guess they could just make it so it would follow behind the character all the time.

After thinking about it, double analogue might not be so bad in a car either, but I just don't know as of now. Might as well wait to see what Rockstar comes up with.

If this is a 2.5D, then I'm not buying it.

I peronally didn't like Gangstar's accelerometer controls for the vehicles... They were a bit rough, but i did like the bars and the wheel control :), i would enjoy a transparent d-pad for movement, auto zooming in or out (and/or pinching in and out, there would be a firing button, gernade, etc., pinching in and out for sniping would be nice unlike Modern Combat where you had to touch a tiny button... Though I did enjoy Payback controls as it worked really well for gameplay, and etc :p (got nothing ese to say)

    Hehe :)

I thought December was considered winter season already? I doubt Rockstar will release it that late anyway..

Haha, I wouldn't mind if they put in the option to choose between touch and accelerometer, it's just that accelerometer really doesn't work out for me. Everyone is different though :)

Actually, I just realized that this game is 4D, because it has real time.

I know that, but we were talking about dimensions. :D
If you want to get philosophical, one could say that time is actually 3 extra axes as you have timeX, timeY and timeZ.

well i certainly cant wait, played it for the ds it was great, wonder what changes will be made that improve/ take away. Obviously much will be taken away (drug trading-- look at candy wars) b/c of Apples strict rules.

Knowing rockstar they will push to get that out as that is a major aspect of the game. Rockstar has had alot of traversial content and despite everyone hayimg what the game is, they never dumbed it down. The only time was with the hot coffee thing, but hey that wad a little too deep. Apple has also gotten a lot less strict since their initial release, and seeing as how this game is a high budget game, apple wont refuse.

Uh, guys? If you haven't heard, Rockstar announced that they didn't have any trouble at all getting it through Apple's approval system, and the game will actually have MORE than what was on the DS version.
