You have a good point there. Remember that the iPhone / iPod touch has very efficient process management. From when I was jailbroken, I found that an app can use up to 90% of the system resouces (CPU, GPU, can use all of unwired RAM) at one time on an iPhone. It is better on an iPod, as you don't have the MobilePhone process running as well.

Lol " when the fcuk is fall"
I just check this forum to see if you'd been answered, coz I remembered
your question from a few days ago!!
Maybe the fall is the fall of rain, so winter maybe?

There we go, nicely put fenrir911! That's exactly what I was talking about.

Thanks! And wow, I knew apps in the background used a lot of the iDevice's background memory, but up to 90%?! Phew, that's a lot!

    Lol! :D

How can an app (correct me if you mean a game, cause thats what i thought you were talking about) take up 90% of the resources when only about 50% is left... i dunno but 50/128 doesnt seem like 90% of the resources.

the ipod touch uses half its ram to run background processes, and it doesnt have a sort of vram like the psp. the vram is basicly equal to all of the ram of the ipod. the vram is all allocated to gameplay, so imagine the psp having a whole little world just for the games, while the ipod touch is using whatever it has left on its planet (about half) to run games. Think of it like that. the iPod takes whats left and uses it to run the game, while the psp has a part that specializes on that and runs it off that.

Sorry! :p That post should have said the available system resources. You are correct in the fact that ~50% Of the RAM is reserved for system processes (in my experience). Sorry for the miscommunication. I do beleive that the PowerVR graphics chip used in the iPhone has VRAM as well. I will check.

umm chinatown wars is full 3d with a rotatable camera... not 2.5d. 2.5d is something like gta 2.

A game cannot be considered 2.5d if the whole world (map, characters, cars for example) is rendered in 3d, take into account gta2 it uses sprites to represent everything, but the map is rendered 3d hence why its claimed 2.5d. Now take chinatown wars, everything(aside from a few sprites) is done in 3d, the pedestrians, weapons, cars, trees. That is why chinatown wars is considered 3d. Oh and payback started out as a 2.5d game, until the switch to gp2x. I believe the reason they called it 2.5d is because wgen it first came out ir had a full top-down view, making ut seem like 2.5d and then with the second update it had a different view, 3/4th view. Whoch by then i think they shouldve called the gane 3d... There choice ti call a 3d game 2.5d though, even every payback owner on gp2x calls it 3d.

Man, someone should just start a separate "difference between 3D and 2.5D" thread.

I know GTA:CW is the subject, so talking about the existing version is fine, but every other post is someone arguing about whether it's in 3D, or 2.5D.

    Sheesh

To clear up the 2D - 3D argument one and for all:

"In film, the term 3-D (or 3D) is used to describe any visual presentation system that attempts to maintain or recreate moving images of the third dimension, the illusion of depth as seen by the viewer" -Wikipedia

In GTA: CW, the models are all 3D, and gameplay can move along the Z axis, which means that the game is 3D.
