Hex editor, check Itunes, ffs iexlorer, requires itunes, ffs I used my laptop, but great find! Ohh, presets. Max for ipad2 ;D Oh wait, i might need pc.. Ffs
Just curious, does the game suffer from lags and slowdown more when you attempt to run the full version in this case? I mean, the non A5 devices probably couldn't handle the full version of the game, hence they gimped it in the first place.
/facepalm ok i downloaded your max file and its makes the game german or russian but based on your location probably russian... lol
Omg, can't believe rockstar took all those out for a4 chips, would headlights really make that much of a difference to the fps
I was confused too, but all you have to do is to go to settings, then language (pretty easy to find with the icons) and you will see Englisch or something like that. Also, just reset default controls for the controls to look normal, and you are all set!
No, not really. You can set it to absolute max view distance that the engine allows on PC, but that is not advised. If you are on a 4S, then you should enjoy the graphics
I did some test in my iPhone 4, and I recommend to enable shadows, lights and increase draw distance to Medium Drawing Distance. You are going to lose some fps but the final result worth it. Do not try to increase resolution to 80, that is a fps eater and make the game unplayable with an iPhone 4. I hope my recommendation could help someone!

COOL i will wait for that...I use ahex editor from time to time for NDS games and patching but this will be different and play to play with! BTW very very nice work on this ...I love to see this type of thing on here ! Thanks for the preset files too! which preset are YOU using the enabled shadow one or the Max one with blood, etc? which do you recommend? also how do i incorporate the .set file into the program to make the changes?
I use the gta3.set preset, not the MAX one, because I like an FPS boost, however I will upload another preset file that I think works best for people who like a perfect graphics/performance compromise. Check the first post in a couple minutes
Thanks Dan007, it works very well. The graphics look even better and the game still runs smoothly on my iPhone 4. Although the frame rate seems to drop whenever it rains, so I'm wondering if there is a way to disable the rain?
Runs ok, except when either it rains or I go to Salvatore's mansion (the mansion was always bad, now it's like a sideshow). God forbid it ever rains when I'm at Salvatore's mansion. I understand why rock* cut down on the pretties like they did, I'm not sure whether I'm happy enough with the performance to keep it the way it is, or if I'll switch back. But it is DEFINITELY much better looking. Kudos for finding this!
