It seems to have launched early. We weren't expecting it out this early in the day but yeah the only way to find it currently seems to be through the TA link, haha.
Easily well worth getting and easily one of the best racing sims on iOS. Its not really what I'd call a full on hardcore simulation racer and I don't think its really meant to be, but it's definitely not an arcade racer either. There's a much higher learning curve and it is all realism based. It's just easier than the full hardcore stuff to pick up and play due to being a bit more forgiving. Along the lines of RR3 basically. 2K Drive is about the closest to a hardcore racing simulator on iOS for the masses at the moment and while this does come close to that in that each car (FWD/RWD/AWD) has its own unique handling behaviours, it won't punish you as much and will be easier for the majority to adapt to who want something that is realistic but still allows you to play on and still have fun with it. All the physics are as they should be and it looks fantastic with great environments and a nice variety of weather and day/night/dusk driving which adds a lot to the experience over just about all other racers. It's also far, far easier to earn the two currencies and is as close to the true meaning of F2P in this segment on iOS at the moment. It is free so there is of course a slight push on iap but I've been playing it since soft launch and been playing the final release for a few days now and I can't actually see anyplace where I'm going to need to get iap to progress as the dollar currency is rewarded very generously and the C currency for everything is balanced well according to each tier one is in. The mechanics for the upgrades are the only place I can see where iap offers an advantage but so far in the game I've easily earned enough for the top mechanics and I've still got a huge amount of content to get through yet. Plus, most importantly, it is a lot of fun and is my personal preferred favourite of the racing games I have on device now. It is an easy recommendation. And I'm told will be supported with many updates in the long term which, considering it already has a huge number of cars and championships along with a number of forward and reversed tracks, means it something that's going to be on device for a long time to come. And as with any racing sim, its worth noting that turning off assists will help your lap times. I eased off the brake assist initially, which did take a bit of learning braking points but now that I'm off them fully, lap times are much faster. Working on the steering assist at the moment but my skill level ain't quite high enough just yet to have it off fully for all tracks.
I only have one complaint so far, the steering wheel control option. Please mirror rr3's.the system in this game has a fixed place for the wheel and it's an uncomfortable distance in on the iPad for my hands. Rr3's system puts the wheel center any place I put my left thumb. Any work on this is much appreciated
Not able to get cloud syncing going. Playing on phone with game center enabled but tried on iPad, began with racer setup and tutorial, profile from phone never made it over. Game Center is on the iPad too. Missing something obvious it feels like.
So given that I downloaded at the Canadian launch, is there any reason I should delete and download again from the Australian store?
Damn, the update to the final version isn't what i was hoping for! Some great fixes, some not! Payouts are still wayyyy to low compared to the insane upgrade costs of the higher tier cars (tier 4 and up) Also noticed that i need wayyyyyy more xp to level up than before! Before the update i needed about 50.000 xp to level up and now i need more than a million (yes!!!!!) xp to level up!! Handling on 100% sensitivity was good, why did they change that, it's absolute crap now! Now i need to turn my ipad almost to portrait view to take a corner.
Wait until the servers are up and running correctly before you download locally, you'll want to be sure you're cloud save is up there right and the servers always take a bit of time to sync up right at a full international launch. Also, if you have a second device or access to a second device, just start a download on that when logged in to your own local account so that it shows up on your own purchased list and the updates will show up anyway without needing to switch accounts. This tends to work for the free games but obviously would be not be an option for paid games.
Is anyone else getting an error message for online play? Started getting an error code 9 a couple few weeks ago. Would have figured it would have been fixed before a WW release. Now I'm worried it's something with my account.
yes,the fixed steering wheel position is annoying and not usable for me.But the rest seems great so far.Beautiful car models and tracks (with a lot of variety on each track)and not near as greedy as RR3 in terms of iAP.I like the car handling in RR3 more but i HATE to support a freemium system like EA introduced in RR3.So i insta deleated it.Bye bye,RR3 and welcome GT Racing
Make sure you've updated from the soft-launch version to the WW launch. That should resolve any issues. We recently added movable controls to Asphalt 8 so I am happy to pass this feedback along to the Devs to let them know players are looking for this option as well in GTR2.
I have. Looking at credits in app right now. Version 1.0.1q. On both my ipad mini and my iphone. Same error message. Again, any help would be appreciated. Edit:Here is a picture of the message. Also, you can see in the background, I have challenges pending. I really want to throw 10$ towards this app, but won't if I can't get multiplayer to work.
Have you tried uninstalling and reinstalling the app? Not sure if you had to change country stores to get in to the soft-launch and then changed back afterwards for the update. I also don't know if that affects the game. If the clean install doesn't work, shoot me a message with the device you're using and what OS version you are on and I'll have to contact the production team to see what's shaking with this.
