Can't tell you anything at the moment. Glenn's checking the answers and will let you know. If you're not sure whether your answer's correct or not, I suggest you have another go. In recognition of my work on Ground Effect, Glenn's just told me that he's prepared to give me a whopping 5 codes now, so more of you are in with a chance
Thanks for the great response - you've made an older woman very happy! Some of you seem to have found it pretty tricky but I think we have a few correct answers too. Keep your answers coming in & Glenn has promised that he'll post the results as soon as he's sober again.
Congratulations to secondtime, Palfince, Feabag323, Josiah Wilson (via Twitter) and jblick. Your codes should be with you now. The word was Camouflage which luckily seems to be the only ten letter word that fits. Well done to those who also found "Cactus Lair", we didn't realise it was there and, to be honest, I don't want to think too hard about what a Cactus lair might be... If you enjoy the game we would really appreciate a review in iTunes. The same goes for everyone who has upgraded to version 1.1. If you like the current version please rate it.
Thanks for the code - just left you a review. What a fun racing game! Although I tried it, I do prefer it without the 3D glasses - a little crisper for me. Nice set of racers, terrains, and some fun racing layouts. Thanks again!
In a few days I will have Openfeint working in Ground Effect and would like to to a little beta testing. I will of course send a version to all of the previous testers but would like to add a few more. I would specially like to add a few people who have finished the game and are likely to fill up the online score tables. Even more importantly, I would love to find a few beta testers who are still running OS 2.2.1 as I am hoping to support this even though I no longer have a 2.2.1 device! Alternatively, any info on how to downgrade a 2g iPod from 3.1.2 to 2.2.1 would be much appreciated. I spent 3 hours yesterday digging out and installing old versions of iTunes and jailbreaking tools but couldn't make it work As soon as I have Openfeint working I will also be making a lite version. Please PM if you are interested. There will only be a few new beta test places as I'm seriously running out of 'slots'.
Restore from backup didn't do it? Normally I'd be happy to beta test, but I really suck at Ground Effect.
A simple restore won't do it. There are Youtube videos that claim to be able to get 3.1.2 back to 3.0 and others that claim to be able to get 3.0 back to 2.2.1 but you seem to need old versions of iTunes (new ones just refuse to go back to one that's too early) and even then you supposedly need to use a jailbreaking tool to knock the device into something beyond DFU mode... All very complicated and not made any easier with an iPod with a semi-broken power button. It might be a non issue as it should 'just work' but I don't want to risk submitting it untested on 2.2.1 if I don't have to.
Yes, they require a pair of differently polarised images on top of each other which unfortunately means either a special screen, a special projector or both! Ground Effect's 3D uses colour seperation, the same as used when 3D movies are released on DVD and Blu-ray for current technology. It supports three different colour combinations which cover every 3D disc release I have ever heard of.
GE's 3d effect is cool, and you just need the old red and blue glasses for it. Or you can order them for $2 online somewhere... its optional so you can play as 3d or regular. Looking forward to the Open Feint version! -Josh
I've made a couple of tweaks in the new version that make the 3D effect work significantly better. Basically, in v1.1 I made the separation a little more aggressive than it needed to be in an attempt to make the effect more noticeable. After watching a couple of 3D movies (most notably Coraline) I realised that over-separation doesn't enhance the effect, it just makes the viewer more likely to notice ghosting between the images if they have less than perfect filters/lensed. The upcoming version (1.2) has it toned down which is not only easier on the eye, it also, surprisingly, seems to enhance the 3D effect.
OpenFeint achievements Suppose there are 3 achievements on a level of a game: 1: you got a Bronze medal 2: you got a silver medal 3: you got a gold medal If a player gets achievement 3 before 2 and 1, should he a) have to play the level again, carefully coming 2nd and 3rd if he wants to max his gamerscore. b) also automatically get the first 2 Personally, Im thinking a) but if we reckon that people will find it irritating I am happy to go with b). What do you think?
Hi glenn! Today i jumped the fence and bought your game. I tried to use it with coraline's red/green glassess. But while watching through the red side returns a single image, looking through the green side shows a lot of ghosting (doubled image) i think you should tweak it a little, if you manage to pur your hands on a pair or coraline glasses. Also, the Inter-ocular distance is a little too steep, the brain can't process images that differ too much. Try moving your two cameras a little closer one to the other. Thanks a lot, hope you'll consider my suggestions fede
Coralaine uses Green/Magenta rather than red/green. As I said earlier, the next version has less agressive seperation and works much better. It's worth remembering of course that Ground Effect isn't a stereo 3D only game. I love stereo 3D but I play it more in normal mode at 60FPS
