I cant belive it. You guys gave away a code on twitter and I missed it. Obviously someone out there is making me wait till the 25th.
Sorry DSW - nothing personal; it was an emergency and we really don't have any codes left now I have an idea though: why don't you just (gulp) buy it?! Goodness knows Glenn's practically giving it away at $0.99 anyway. I have it on good authority that the new features are really, really cool too.
I KNOW!! I want to buy it before the sale ends but I'm broke. Getting an itunes gift card december 25th (Not a special day or anything). So I've been after any spare codes. I usually dont go after codes for games with such ferocity but there have been soo many oppurtunities that have slipping away. So this is unusual fyi. I WOULD buy it. Seriously.
My heart seriously bleeds for you & based on that sad story, & it being Christmas, I would buy Ground Effect for you myself! Unfortunately, the good people at Apple currently allow me to gift music through iTunes, but not apps. Maybe you could have a word with them? Glenn's children (12 & 15) tried the new version of GE out for the first time last night & reported that the driver view is "awesome" and that tweaking the new sensitivity controls allowed them to beat their best times in ghost race mode. Obviously, they were impressed with the stereo 3d option too. Just saying...
Yes I have it very hard, *sniff* not playing GE for a week *sniff* haha dont worry I'll get over it once break begins. Then I'll be hibernating until christmas so I wont have to deal with all this pain
An interesting idea DK, but I think Glenn just wants this one out so that he can concentrate on the next GE update (taking into account all the feedback he's had from you and others on TA) & also get to work on another project he's working on (you're gonna love it).
I guess you've pre-viewed the new update - do you mean the one that's still in the works? If so, I think it will tick all your boxes If you mean the new project - I'm sorry, but my lips are sealed on that one & you'll have to wait a while for news.
Ground Effect 1.1 is now "Ready for Sale". I guess it will be showing up in the app store in the next few hours.
**Hey you, yeah you, walking into the theatre--scuffle, bam, POW--damn, that wasn't even a 3D movie** I WILL find some 3D glasses...*Hey kid, is that DVD you've got there 101 Dalmations 3D...*
Here is the 3D help page on the Ground Effect website. Hopefully it will tell you all you need to know. Has anyone noticed any of the other features of the rev at all?
maybe i'm doing it wrong but using 3D glasses with this game gives me major headaches and eyestrains.
Fantastic Update!!! This is a sick, sick update! First of all as I've posted here, I'm running on an iPhone 3G (which can be laggy at times) and immediately noticed a performance improvement. The frame rate increase was something I didn't expect and I was suddenly saying "wow" a couple of times just watching the intro video. Everything looks better from the crafts to the terrain... I even thought the colors looked more vibrant. I bet on a 3Gs this game just cooks. The control sensitivity adjustment (great addition to the options!) has helped me considerably get better at this game. I have it set right in between the middle and full throttle and it's already helped me unlock a new track that I was struggling with. Cruise mode is great allowing folks to try out unlocked tracks, although I found myself itching to get back to racing once I realized I had better control of the craft than prior to the update. The menus and options are cleaner and I'm still impressed with how quickly everything loads and snaps from one mode to another. It's obvious this is a carefully crafted and optimized game. I haven't had a chance to try out the 3D thing yet. Something I'm definitely looking forward to. I certainly hope the sales of this game continue to improve as this developer has given us a pretty unique experience and an original racer for our mobile devices.
Hi RiverOn Fire, great to know you are liking the new version. The frame rate increase is subtle but noticeable on a 3g. It's basically much less likely to drop frames and run at 30 FPS. The difference is bigger on 2g iPod Touch which now manages 40 FPS most of the time and 3gs which gets a solid 60 FPS if it isn't downloading email or push notifications in the background! The lighting just works better. There was a problem in the original where ambient light was always coming out grey, now it's the same colour as the shadows on the landscape, it all just fits together better. Lighting has also been added to the craft selection screen which just makes it look nicer. I would really appreciate it if people who are enjoying the rev would go back into iTunes and re-rate (or even better review) the new version to help casual browsers appreciate the differences in this version.
