I always thought GE was "cool", not hot. As for sensitivity, I feel the controls are pretty much right-on, but it can't hurt to have options, right? I assume that would only change how far you had to tilt the iDevice, so every racer could tailor it to their own preferences. One other idea, inspired by Ravensword. You know when you pass a gate on accident and need to turn around? What about invoking a "crash-stop" with a two-finger swipe? It would be a full-brake, 180-degree turn in whichever direction you swipe.
i seemed to be the only one that found the game unbelievably impossible! yeah! one big mountain and a few small ones to play around with! just dont make it like track four!(the impossible one with loadsa islands i think)
There's a nice shortcut on that "impossible one"...go straight through, with brake on, until you see it. A nice s-curve will take you straight across to the far gate, then turn around and come home.
I love level 4. After a few goes of not-trying-to-win-but-exploring it's pretty easy to find a route that works and then even more fun to keep shaving off more time. My best time on this level features several fairly advanced techniques, I'd love to know if anyone has actually beaten it. Of course, only me, my kids, Jeep and Pureskill can ask that question right now Online hi-scores WILL be coming in a future rev!
The OP had better edit the title, because I just bought it at 99 cents. Unless s/he means some other currency at 2.99. It's the game I was waiting to go down in price. Yay.
I got past 4 by going left around the island and returning on the same side, rather than continuing around the island. I had read of the dreaded island 4 pre purchase and got fourth on my second try and third on my third try. No worries! Will have to look for the s path shortcut and go for gold!
Glenn- not wild about the big open island idea for a lite version. A strength of the game is the perfect difficulty and spacing out of the competitors so it's fun reeling in each craft, not too hard to get third to progress, and then the return challenge of getting silver and gold. Lite has to showcase this!
For $.99 I'm totally picking this one up. This week is killing my pocket. So many good games and great prices. Thanks developer for dropping the price. I was holding off on making any more purchases, but I can't pass this deal up.
How about one race course, and one open course? Or one course, and you could try it in race mode or free mode?
Trying for the first time to set some serious times on track 4. The main reason why I "skipped" the open tracks 4 and 14 was because I thought they would require different tactics. The fastest way around is fairly easy to find, but making the most of it is much harder. I've shaven just under half a second off Glenn's time, but there should be enough margin for faster times. oops! after being stuck on the same time for about half a dozen attempts, suddenly found another second and a half! New best at 1:44.29!
Sure is a steal, best value in app store at the moment!!!!! (hadn't seen price change, eyes were glued on ipod screen)
Josh, am I mad?, possibly, I'm just hoping to keep Ground Effect visible on the app store while we work on the rev. I may have overdone it though as it seems to have overtaken Minisquadron... Hi Tak, if we're comparing with old games I have to say Minisquadron is like Time Pilot 10 would have been if the series had continued. Only better. I would say my favourite recent game if I wasn't talking to Josh in the same post
Global high scores are missing from the game because I wanted to use a system that allowed players to race against the best time replays of their friends and none existed. We just didn't have the time to make our own. The great news is that I've been talking to the guys at Openfeint and it seems that their SDK now supports this! I will be looking into this next week. Local multiplayer will happen but possibly not in the first rev.
