It sounds like the Sanwa parts really enhance the experience and make the iCade near perfect. Is there enough demand to do one more batch? I'm in.

Sometimes games were programmed with a narrow aspect ratio to save memory and then the pixels were stretched out to 4:3 with the CRT. Have a look at Moon Cresta as an example by playing it at forced pixel aspect.

Most arcade monitors were 4:3, so running games at that stretched aspect ratio should mostly work out well if authenticity is your aim.

However, if you have a non-retina ipad, forced pixel aspect will give you noticeably crisper graphics as a standard LCD screen cannot stretch to forced 4:3 aspect as elegantly as a CRT or retina iPad.

Ah Man, i can't believe i was so close to getting it. Gutted.

I have a Jamma arcade cabinet and am trying to get my high scores up on DK, would've loved to practise in bed on my ipad.

Oh well, looks like it's worth me checking here every now and again in the hope it may return.

What a shame. I'm shocked at how long it lasted. I was hoping it was signaling a change in Apple's attitude towards emulators.

Yes. Finally it was pulled. :(

I hope I have made you happy while it lasted.

Anyway, I will keep updating mame4ios for jail broken devices on cydia and I will make new ipa's to resign with developer accounts.

I'm currently working on a major version that will add full touch layout customization inside the app itself, possibility to force 60hz to smother gameplay in some games, hiscore support and a lot new features. I will publish on a few weeks.

Probably Apple will kill evasion jailbreak on iOS next update so stay tuned.

    Yes a BIG thankyou

Its a great app, love playing a lot of those early retro 80's games. Please support companies who release retro apps though like Dotemu though.

But the apps amazing with an iCade. Would LOVE for other emulators to get through to the app store !

But surprised how long this one lasted, i was hoping Apples stance might have changed but obviously not.

As I said before, the opportunity to play the classics with this that have not yet been (or never will be) ported to the iOS is a godsend for the non-jailbroken users like myself. I've played it every day since downloading it, it's that awesome. And I'm surprised that it lasted as long in the App Store as it did.

    Once again... Thanks, Seleuco! :)

Got donkey kong and super mario bros on my phone best app ever and thanks to this thread I'm gonna hopefully get mario 2 and 3 to work as I couldn't before. Here's my question though, I haven't synced my phone since downloading gridlee if I do it now its been pulled will it delete it or will it transfer to my iTunes?

Besides the fact that it would be piracy to share the .ipa file, I don't think it would work, as it would be tied to the original owners iTunes, I think.
Not entirely sure how that works though.

Your best bet would be to jailbreak and get the version on Cydia. I believe it's called iMame4All or something similar.

Thanks pal, but will it transfer it to my iTunes? The reason I ask is because I'm going to get a ipad soon and I would love to get mame on it without jailbreaking

iMame4All was the previous version for unjailbroken devices, available on the AppStore for a few days last year, based on version 0.37... maybe you mean iMame4iOS?
