On number one depending on what rev you have of the rom you might need the first rev as a parent rom. Also neogeo rooms need neogeo.zip bios file to work.
Thanks for trying. I did figure out how to do it (or even set the universe bios, if so desired). I made a mame.ini using mame .139 windows version, and changed the bios line to "bios us", and copied it over to the ipad. You can substitute us for any recognized bios name.
On the icade? On the icade you push the upper right hand button to clear it and then push the button you want to remap it to. It's the equivalent of pushing enter on a keyboard.
Thanks for the reply! Take your time and have a nice safe trip. When you get a chance, if you can give me info on the coordinates/numbers in the control text files I'll sort it out and make it happen. I'll definitely post my results here once I get it going.
Finally modded Gridlee's icon and app name now that I'm jailbroken. Just change the cf bundle name in your info.plist and move over iMame's icon (@2x for retina) and rename it to the proper Gridlee114.png name if on retina, or Gridlee72.png for regular display.
Sounds good, will most likely jb as SNES emus are too weak on the PSP. But gonna have to order that 8 bitty first! About the icon, can we make the same changes without jb ?
Snes.emu runs pretty well, and for simple games like Super Punchout, the onscreen controls work well. I tried to change the icon before without being jailbroken, but the latest version of iExplorer wasn't letting me write to the app directory for some reason. Worked without a problem in iExplorer after I jailbroke though.
Out of curiosity, has anybody ever tried the JOYSTICK-IT from ThinkGeek? http://www.thinkgeek.com/product/e8f5/ It's basically a small joystick that suction cups over the virtual stick on your touchscreen phone. I had been thinking about getting an 8-Bitty a while ago, but this seems like a more budget conscious alternative, plus it'll work with any game with a virtual d-pad or stick.
Funny thing guys when I changed the gridlee app icon in the folder, street fighter 3 kept crashing so I switched back to the original stock icon I'll try to change it via winter board now Anyone else have this problem
Gridlee FAQ WIP Thanks: Seleuco!, lordbond, lurtz6, trystero It says the game is missing some ROM or CHD images. a)You need files that are compatible with MAME 0.139. For what it's worth, there's a program similar to Gridlee for Android called "Mame4Droid" that also takes 0.139 roms. b)Some games, notably Neo Geo titles, require a bios file. In other cases you might be missing a parent rom. How can I play NES games? You need both the Playchoice 10 bios and the Playchoice 10 version of the game itself. Once the game loads you need to set a button to "Enter" and press it to get past the black screen. See Lurtz6's post over here for a more detailed explanation. How can I play Sega Mega Drive/Genesis games? You need both the Mega Play bios and the Mega Play version of the game. Again set a button to "Enter" to get past the first screen. Street Fighter III runs very slowly. On iPhone 5 and iPad 4th Gen turn on the "Very Aggressive" speed hack to play at normal speed. How can I make the blood red in Metal Slug? COIN+START -> Service -> Setting up the SOFT DIP -> SLOT1 METAL SLUG -> scroll down Can you clear a button binding? Press the exit button to set a button to "None." This program is so cool! If you're feeling very enthusiastic, you could donate to the dev. From the main menu Options -> Settings -> Donate. @Cleardragon - Damn those icons are nice. @jwm2 - 947k
Thank you It's from the jaku theme So ok theming gridlee icon via winterborad presents no problems with streetfighter3
Reset Controller Mapping Recently I really messed up the controller mapping on Gridlee. Doing a web search didn't help, so I tried to figure it out myself. Lucky for me I had an additional copy on my iPhone that I could compare to my iPad to figure out a fix. If you find yourself in the same trouble, these are the steps to get everything back to default: 1. Open iExplorer (or any iOS device exploring program) 2. Connect your iPhone/iPad and locate Gridlee > Documents 3. Copy the cfg folder to your computer (just in case my fix was a fluke) Note: From what I could tell, the cfg folder saves the general custom button mapping for mame and for each ROM you open. You can double check by opening the folder and looking at the config files, they will have button names and mapped settings in them. 4. Delete the cfg folder 5. Create a new folder named cfg 6. Try out Gridlee, all should be back to default, if not, remove the new cfg folder and copy the back you made back to the app. You are done! By deleting the cfg folder, you will get rid of the bad mappings and be back to default. Hope this helps others, so you don't have to delete and re-install.
Just in case somone borks things up like I did, you might want to add my manual method to getting buttons back to default. Some how I change the 2 buttons that mapped to pulling up the settings menu, so I couldn't get back to settings to remove the bad mapping. Great FAQ btw!
Since the jailbreak is out, I use iFBA and no more chd or other problems, I'm even playing third strike and snk vs capcom without adding anything to it...
