Yeah, but you don't get characters like Hugo or Evil Ken in those versions, or super cancels.

Also, Evasi0n is out, time to get a proper install of Mame going :)

Very very tempted but this ipad was a birthday present, I think the wife would be rather upset if I bricked it, so I'll struggle with this.

Theres no chance of bricking it. I just jailbroke an iphone 4s and my ipad 3 with no issues. The cydia server is getting hammered so once you jailbreak you'll want to wait a few hours before you try to install any after market apps. Other than that its smooth sailing, no difficult files to download or commands to run. Just connect your idevice via usb cable, open the app and click "jailbreak", within 3-5 minutes its done and your device is right where you left it but with new features and capabilities added.

Can you still sync apps and stuff to iTunes after that?

Gridlee has a nice hidden feature. It loads its resources from documents folder if they are there.

That's means that you can copy the skin data to documents folder and change the skins and their meta data.

To fix the ball issue you have to modify the file "controller_portrait_full_iPad.txt" and set the radio_stick value to 62. It was a typo. Sorry.

Probably Apple dont let me update the App. It's strange that they don't pulled it. Good for them :) I really like Apple devices and now i like more. :))

i will update Cydia MAME4iOS to 1.3. Currently it is 1.2 since all my devices are a6 devices and they are non-jailbroken yet.

That's means Gridlee is more newe and better than the cydia version by now.

PD: There is not autosave becouse is causing problems in a lot drivers.

One tip. You can generate a mame.ini file from 0.139 desktop mame and copy to documents folder. Thats way you can enable some mame features if you like it.

If I may ask..could you please install ifba onto your iPad 3, play the cps3 games and report back on how the performance is? Kinda curious if they run any better with ifba instead..

They ran great on my iPad 2 compared to Gridlee's performance. Its just a different emulator with a different set of goals compared to Mame/Gridlee. Conversely, CPS3 is not very playable on my iPad 2/mini, however it is playable on my iPhone 5. However, iFBA's CPS3 performance is still better across the board and tops my iPhone 5's performance via Gridlee.

I recommend having both installed for whatever suits your gaming needs.

Yeah everything else works just as it would normally. Jailbreaking just gives unsigned apps the ability to run, such as the one needed for wiimote use on mame and other tweaks you may or may not want to add. The nice thing is there are a ton of emulators available so if you wanted to play nes, snes, genesis, turbo grafix 16, gameboy, atari, etc you could with just a few clicks. Theres even apps that will download the rom files for you so you don't need to connect to a pc to transfer over games to it. I won't dive too much into that as it may or may not be legal in your area and i've never tried using it, but did notice it when browsing for other emulators today in cydia.

    Hi guys,

Is there a 'reset to default settings' option?

I was trying to get the controls working in a game and now I've messed up the controls for all my game, the fire buttons are now opening menus. Oops.

    Any way to reset them?

I don't know if this has been mentioned before, but in the Settings section ( off the option button ) there is a donate section for those who want to throw something in the tip jar for this effort. I just noticed it for the first time the other day and I've had this app for quite awhile so figured others might have missed as well.

I did something similar, and broke the "Select" button completely... :D

Couldn't find a reset option anywhere, so I ended up making a backup of the games I had in Gridlee, deleted and reinstalled.
It took no time at all, so no big deal.

Thank you so much for that info, and for making this collection of awesomeness available to us!

Now that Trystero have pointed out that there's a donatation option, I'm going to use it for sure.

    Much respect to you!

the mame.ini file doesn't seem to work. Does it need to be renamed something other than mame.ini? Something like the mame4x.cfg file that is in that folder?

This is what I have in my ini file

    #
    # CORE CONFIGURATION OPTIONS
    #
    readconfig 1
    writeconfig 0

    #
    # CORE STATE/PLAYBACK OPTIONS
    #
    state
    autosave 1
    playback
    record
    mngwrite
    aviwrite
    wavwrite
    snapname %g/%i
    snapsize auto
    snapview internal
    burnin 0

There's not a complete default mode

But if you select the thing you want the command issued too then just hit exit it should set it as none

Hope you can make sense of that :)!

The trouble is that i couldn't select the command, which is needed before hitting the exit to leave the selection clear.

There's no solution other than a reinstall if you accidentally remap or clear your select/shoot button in Mame. Or at least in this version of Mame.
