Is it possible to add command line parameters to the app that launches the mame rom? I have seen where if you ad the -autosave parameter to the line that launches the rom will cause MAME to automatically save and restore the game when you exit and again try to restore the game to the state when you last exited and by doing this it should save the high scores for the game. Can this be added to the settings page so people may turn it on or off if they want? I don't know enough about how iOS works to be able to try it myself. I've tried using the save states on PacMan and it seems to work fine but I would like to make it an automatic function.
For me, Yes. Its not for everyone, and I would consider it for people who had a Neo Geo console back in the day, or always wanted one. I always wanted one, so the idea of having a handheld that docked into a mock-console AND has HDMI output as well as a classic Neo Geo controller to boot, it was a no brainer for me. $199 for the handheld and console dock + controller is a pretty good bargain. Needless to day, everything is emulation these days, including licensed ports that come to iOS and even licensed handhelds with included games like the ones Sega did years back. Its more of a nostalgia thing for me, plus it looks damn sexy and is a lot easier to throw into my bag on trips, which I take quite frequently. I can't lug around my icade, I can with my bitty, but then I'm adding more bulk and one more thing to worry about. Besides, the joypad isn't a plain old joypad, its the classic "clicking" pads like the kind the Neo Geo CD had. $199!!! C'mon, you buy icade cores at the tip of a hat, that should be peanuts to you. Also, I'm thinking we should start a new thread in the lounge for high scores now that everyone gets to play Mame, and not just the lucky few with an outdated app.
Emulators aren't considered copyright infringement. On Nintendo's website, Nintendo specifically calls ROM's from the internet a copyright infringement, but doesn't state the same for emulation (http://www.nintendo.com/corp/legal.jsp#emulator). Instead, Nintendo refers emulation as a "threat to...intellectual property rights" (or more importantly, a threat to sales). Given the patent wars with Samsung and Google, Apple has an expected reaction to potential copyright infringements. It is curious to see Gridlee remaining in the AppStore this long which makes one wonder if another game console emulator could operate under the same premise as Gridlee. After all, Gridlee isn't billed as an emulator. That's just the way the game works. I'm really happy with Gridlee and wouldn't bemoan about the lack of other emulators. It's more of a "gee, I wonder if..." kind of thing.
Sorry I didn't respond sooner. (Working these last few days) Glad you found it. Sorry to hear it is only in a few games.
Hey, no biggie. There's no requirement on answering posts here. And certainly no time limit. Yeah, it's too bad the option to adjust joystick sensitivity isn't universal in the app. I have no problems when playing games on my iCade, but it's way too big to sit comfortable in my couch and play, so I most often play using touch screen controls. I mostly play Shmups, and they're wery hard to score in with touch controls, as the sensitivity is absolutely whack IMO. Fellow TA member jmw2 has kindly agreed to custom build an iCade Core with custom made Sanwa controls, and I can't wait to try it out! When I receive that baby, touch controls won't be used again by me.
Even if they remove it, it doesnt matter, since JB for nearly all IOS devices will be out today (for IOS 6.1)
It's so cool that this thread has allowed you guys to hook up like that and for jmw2 to provide that service for you. I have modded buttons alone and that makes a huge difference. Having a fully soldered Sanwa joystick with 8-way restrictor plate would be the icing on the cake.
I guess a bug fix for the virtual joystick would be cool (when it balloons out and looks massive in portrait mode). Using the virtual d-pad instead is a current workaround. One feature I would like added would be an 'autosave state on exit' and 'autoload state on start'. This would help alleviate the lack of highscore.dat support.
You don't have to use virtual d-pad to fix the huge joystick issue in portrait mode. You can choose another "skin". There's three choices, A,B or C. Under "settings" ->"Miscellaneous" ->"Skin". It's only Skin "A" that have issues.
Sadly I cant get Battletoads to work, it says that some files are missing. Is it works for anyone? Besides many roms that I download doesnt work. If you may please pm me where can I get 100% working roms or maybe I missing something and have to do more options to make them work? I just dont know
Should have the icade cores tomorrow so ill have the first one out by Tuesday or Wednesday. Going to order parts for the last two tonight. If anyone else wants one let me know and ill get the parts ordered at the same time. Even if you can't pay for a couple days ill still order the parts in advance. As of right now the three icade cores I ordered are spoken for, so in order to get units ill have to order more. If you want one speak up now.
I wonder if its possible to use a Wii remote as a controller with this? I know the jailbroken version does allow it but my ipad2 is not jailbroken and I can't find a Wiimote option in the menus
Thank you. A shame really, Mame is awesome but I really don't find the virtual stick as responsive as an old joystick or d-pad, sadly an icade is out of my budget atm.
For those wanting to play Street Fighter on non iPhone 5 / iPad 3&4, SNK vs CAPCOM works great on my mini!
You can jailbreak any iOS 6.x device right now. The jailbreak was just released 30 minutes ago. Its easy and keeps all your pre-jailbreak files in place so the only thing you notice is a new cydia icon in your home screen.
All the cps2 street fighters work flawlessly. Just google cps 2 and click the wikipedia link to show all the games available for it. CPS 2 has quite a few great games including many of the street fighters and VS figthing series.
