I don't recall any of my posts voicing a complaint that I can't play SNES. How can one complain about getting an app with emulation capabilities for free? I'm only trying because I have read on this thread that it was possible. After a search through this thread, I still couldn't piece it together. I have fiddle with MAME since 1999 and never used it for SNES. It intrigued me to think that it was possible. After searching without success, I thought I might ask. If I didn't ask, I wouldn't know. Isn't this why we have forums?
It all goes in your roms folder not the document folder. Have you tried inserting the bios into the zip file directly?
Hello everyone, yes I am a first time poster here, yes I am a noob to this forum, NO I'm not a noob to emulators/mame and NO I don't need to know where to find Roms. I did make this profile to ask a question but to be fair I've been following this thread since close to the beginning and I've been following TA for quite some time in general. This thread has been a fun, informative and entertaining one. Anyways on to my question. My question pertains to the 6 button layout games, namely the capcom 2d fighters. My button layout on my mame has 4 buttons laid out like snk fighters but then the 2 others are in the middle sides of the screen; one right above the joystick and one right above the 4th button closest to the top. Ive seen some screenshots where those 2 straggler buttons are where they should be; lined up with the other 4. My question is, how do you move said buttons to be placed in the proper layout. I've dabbled with the settings but can't find a way to move them. I have not seen anyone ask this question yet. Thanks for any kind of help!
If your mvsc.zip file didn't work by itself, you had the wrong version. I downloaded that same rom from the correct version set, and had no problems loading and playing the game. What us "regulars" are trying to say is that if people would take the time and find a source that categorizes roms by version, they would know they are always downloading and loading the right version. At that point, all there is to worry about are adjustments for speed and control (I flat out gave such a source in one of my earlier posts - although a bit cryptically). But, the "non-regulars" seems to mostly be lazy, and want everything handed to them. Some regulars have been generous to offer their assistance, and some have not - but that's their choice. In addition - we're not supposed to be talking about roms in this forum for obvious reasons. I'm assuming you own a Marvel vs. Capcom machine, and you just want to load it's rom to play on a mobile device? Right. That's why we're not supposed to be talking about this on a TA forum.
My GUESS is, you'd need a new theme to have the buttons in a different place. This version doesn't support moving the button, so you're limited to the three "themes" included in the settings menu.
Thanks for trying to help me. I mistyped. I placed the files in the ROMs folder without success. After reading several posts on this thread, I thought the nss.zip file was the bios file. Gridlee identifies the nss.zip file as a Nintendo system file. Perhaps you are suggesting to decompress the nss.zip file and the ROM file and then zipping all contents together? Sorry. Not at my computer at this time so I can't try it out. Posting from my phone.
Finally got around to pulling out the iCade and hacking away at the app. Got it to work. Got the full romset and enjoying some iPad mini iCade action. Wish I would've kept my .ipa for iDOS and iMAME. Would've been fun to go back and hack those too. Going to be going to to them with the new 6.1 jailbreak though. Shall be good times. What is this I hear about NES and SNES games on a MAME emu? Never heard of this before.
You don't want to zip them both together. Think of the bios as a game. You put it along side the other zipped roms in the roms folder. Also to note, some newer roms come with their appropriate bios files already zipped in with them. Another reason why some are getting games to work without adding in the bios files.
Makes sense, I never really thought of that as a reason. I always see peoples screenshots of games I cant play but think I can and some that have the 6 button layout. I always assume I can do that too haha. Its times like this that it kind of stinks to not have a 5. All the CPS3 goodness and 3d fighters are unplayable on a 4s and below. Also thanks to both who responded to my query.
you can play cps3 on iphone 4s using speed hack and adjusting the frameskip reduce the emulator resolution on options menu reduce screen refresh at minium sound off is playable.
Have you tried "Settings->Input"? There's a wealth of options on button/joystick layout and visibility.
Oh man, now I need to snap a pic of my battle station. Those buttons look nice, I miss japanese buttons, they're so much nicer on your fingers after playing street fighter for 18 hours straight. #lifebeforeonlinegaming
The main game I really want to work of the CPS3 is Red Earth/Warzard, which I heard was barely playable. If I change all those settings, wouldn't I have to keep changing them back to play anything else? If thats the case, I wouldn't find it worth it. I've messed around with the Input options alot and don't see any way of changing the placement of the default scattered 6 button layout. I dont know if it defaults to the standard 6 button layout for iPhone 5 users and just scatters for 4s and below or if they were adjusted to be that way.
Yep. It's running great on my iPad 3 alongside a whole host of other classic and great Shmups, I think at least three or four other Cave Shumps. You just need the right Roms. One caveat: On some of them, I had to use Speed Hacks to get them to run really smooth and without sound issues.
Hmm. I've just messed around a bit with the settings. Playing on an iPad only, I don't know if there's a difference in the button placement on iPhone vs, iPad. I don't have the games you mention, so I can't check it out for you either. I took a snapshot of MK2. In that game, only 4 buttons is need if I recall correctly, but there's a couple of buttons sitting idle on the right hand side of the screen. Is this the button layout you have? I haven't tried any games that need 6 buttons yet, but I should think the app automatically puts them in the correct place. As in side by side in Street Fighter games etc. I haven't installed those though, I'm more into Shumps, but maybe I'll give it a go, out of curiosity on the button setup.
I read that when you originally posted it. I have searched but have not found such a ROM set. Do you know the size if this set? Maybe I'm seeing it but don't realize that it's that set. I'm assuming it would be larger than a typical .139u1 set. Thanks.
