me too. if feral is on the path to porting aaa games to mobile, it makes me doubly happy that i bought it, once for grid and once for the future of mobile gaming. Edwin, if someone can tell me how to post my settings screenshot here, i can share it for more people to see and maybe save them some time otherwise i can mail it to ya.
I own both mad catz C.T.R.Li sizes and like both of them. The small one is perfect for traveling. You can't go wrong with any of them.
First of all, amen. Second, your best bet is to use something like the imgur or photobucket app and attach the screenshot via URL. Agreed that it would be great to see control tweaks shared here.
I'm fiddling with the controls too. Driving with the default is like jerking a giant brick around the road sliding all over the place. I either don't turn at all or seem to go full tilt. I play with the same controller for other racing games and I know I'm not this bad at driving. I have the Nimbus, anyone have some ideas about getting the controls right?
Gonna ask again to see if this is a bug when I set it to wheel controls and manual its perfect at first then about quarter to halfway through my first lap the upshift just quits working and starts downshifting instead... thought it might be me but I switched to tilt and swipe manual shifting and it always worked right whole race... so my question is this... is there an issue with the nudge shift when set to wheel controls? And has anyone else noticed this?
yes! mine is the same as above. Basically low deadzone so that the wheel is responsive to the turns Second high Linearity so that it keeps straight in the straight lines with high speed. And from then on, tune your Steering Saturation - which is essentially reverse sensitivity - the more saturation, the lower the sensitivity. Since i was comfortable at low wheel sensitivyty (3) at RR3, here i turned Saturation to around 75%
feral team, a suggestion: optional manual transmission with wheel controls for the most immersive experience: how: in the right side space instantly replacing the gas pedal finger pressed down: gas flick left up: first, flick left down second gear, flick up third gear etc. it could work because realistically, when driving we leave the gas for the moment it takes to get in gear so the gas interface could be momentarily replaced by a gear interface, not needing a separate space of its own. What do you - and fellow TA members think?
I just played GRID on my iPad Air 2 and must say I was not disappointed . I just played for a minute or 10 and it look beautiful and I had no lag at all. I just did the career mode so not many cars etc on screen so maybe that's why I had no lag. Looking at the experience I had it is a shame the game is in the not compatible list and therefore can not be installed on an air 2 using the App Store . I guess because the performance may not be optimal is the reason Feral choose this route , and it is an understandable one ..You do not want 1 star reviews saying the game plays suboptimal . NB: I did not perform any illegal actions by the way. I bought Grid on my iPhone 8 so got it the legal way .. All I did was getting the ipa from my phone and installed it on my iPad Air 2 . I did get a warning that my device was not compatible but the second time I started it , it ran anyway. I just posted this to share an experience .. So I will not provide the way how to do this
Based on this maybe Feral should allow the installation on iPad Air 2 but state clearly they can't promise the performance to be optimal
That's what they do for the 6S , so my guess is that the performance on the air 2 will probably be worse further in game. Like I said I just tested it for a short while and Feral will have tested it in length so maybe there will be real showstoppers when the it get's real busy on screen. I was just pleasantly surprised it runs the way it does ..and could not resist sharing it
It's a nice idea and we prototyped something like this during the control design testing however it has a few flaws that aren't immediately obvious. This method requires you to get off the gas, then flick shift up and back on the gas. This process can lose you up to 0.1s per shift on acceleration compared to AI, tilt and gamepads, on harder settings this is easily the difference between winning and being mid pack over a full race. While driving you also need to downshift usually while progressively braking into corners which is a much bigger problem. For corners you'd need to: brake into a corner, downshift 3 or 4 times (with no brake or gas applied) then hit the gas. This can lose you lots of time (even more that upshifting), with some corners you can lose over a second compared to the tilt/flick manual, gamepad or automatic modes. We are always looking for how we can improve the controls but it's also why we investigated the nudge gesture as this allows you to shift quickly and without losing time as it's separate to the fingers controlling steering and gas/braking. Thanks again for the suggestion, we'll keep tuning controls over time however for now if you want to use flick gears then the tilt controls are your option. For virtual wheel controls you'll need to keep using nudge.
I totally get that but my issue is nudge is not working about a quarter of the way through my first lap my upshifts become downshifts and basically I can no longer upshift as my downshift becomes upshifts etc It gets super whacky for some reason For the first little stretch it works flawless and I love it actually just wondering if it’s me or a bug When using tilt and manual I have zero issues On the latest version of iOS I can’t find how to record the screen anymore or I would make a video of it to show you
Please get in touch via the in game support system (using the contact via email option) so we can discuss what your doing and what settings you have. We've retested again today for a number of hours after your report and nudge is working just fine on a number of devices so we'd like to find out why you're having issues. Please mention this thread and my name (Edwin) so your ticket gets passed through to the design team as well as our bug regression teams.
