Ah, that's fair enough Paul. Thanks for taking the time to give some detail at least! I've heard a few other devs reporting the same about XBLA lately, so you're at least not alone in your frustrations! I really don't know where and how Microsoft went so wrong with the Live Arcade, but it does seem to be increasingly elitist of late. It seems odd that a label originally set up to be a chance for Indie developers to get their games out to the masses, should become so narrow and restrictive. I've been following quite a few releases on XBLIG too, and I think you're right about the returns on those, too. To be fair though, if you did release it on XBLIG, provided you had prominent marketing, you may be able to make a fair return. The game would be so much more polished and professional than anything else on XBLIG - I reckon it would basically be a shining light for the platform! As you say though; even then, your returns may not equal to the effort it would take to convert the game to C#. Ah well, I have a Wii and a PS3 too, so as long as you release it on a non-portable console I'll be perfectly happy
Beta testers Hi Guys. We should be ready by tomorrow morning to roll out a Beta version to all those who were good enough to volunteer their services. Please remember that this is for iPad or Retina displays only. I've tried to contact a few of you via the form here but I guess it isn't working properly, so can you all mail me directly using the link in my sig please? In your mail can you please include: Your devices UDID(s) (can have more than one if you like) Your real name as you'd like it to appear in the q.a. credits unless you'd prefer to remain anonymouse - please state. I can then give you access to the FTP area where the build lives. Many thanks...
Ahh, I was going to cheekily ask if I could get on the beta testers roll but my "pop3" wont work, really must learn how computers work.Just assuming its all magic and wizardry is really starting to fail me. I will wait in eager anticipation for the retail release. Did you get the bored brummie accents in? ;-)
You can PM me your details I guess. I tend to avoid forums' PM features as they're a pita but if that's all that's available... No brummies yet
Ok, I clicked your title at the top "Rubicon" and sent an email to that. Does this make me the perfect beta tester. The fact that I'm such a retard I could probably break your software just by looking at it. Also, before I reviewed the email I nearly sent you one titled "beta teating". God knows what you would have sent.
Per Rubicon, in an earlier post: "2G is not happening unfortunately. We don't own one, but I'm assuming it has less or similar power at best to 3G which just doesn't give a useable frame rate." Looks like the only 2nd gen IOS device this will be playable on is the ipad 2.
awesome, looks like it has the charm of Hogs of War- a great turn-based game on the PS1(that never had a sequel..).
Thanks for the positive comments again people. @clonesining: You don't atm, it's not out in the shop yet until these Beta testers have hammered it for a few days and then we fix all the things they highlight that as developers day in and day out we've become blind to. And then the grand roll out next week. Yay for that day... I promise you won't have to wait too long now and then perhaps I can start getting some reviewers interested as well, starting with right here...
